1582 (Tensho 11) The 12th Nippo of Myokenji Temple was founded as a retreat. Toyotomi Hideyoshi donated the Bishamonten statue enshrined in Fushimi Castle and made it the guardian deity of the temple. Since the Edo period, this statue has gained faith as a god of good luck and evil. The statue is said to have been made in the late Heian period. Nichiren sect. Bonsho in the precincts is a masterpiece of the latter half of the Kamakura period, and under the bell that has been designated as a cultural property of the prefecture without being offered during the war, an old stock of "Shigurematsu" called Hideyoshi's hand-planted pine is placed. It was counted as one of the "Seven Mysteries of Izumi" along with the "Five-colored camellia" that was said to have dropped drops from its branches even on a sunny day and had five-colored flowers. Both of the famous trees have died, but in the garden of the precincts, offspring pine trees and seven kinds of camellias regret their remnants. There are more than 30 tombstones such as Kazue Ukita, a revered painter in the late Tokugawa period, Gosai Hiratsuka, a mountain tomb researcher, and the tombstones of the successive descendants of Kiyomasa Kato. (Source: Kyoto City Tourism Association) Passing through the mountain gate, there is a spacious precinct, and a large main hall stands in front of the straight approach. It is a magnificent temple with a corridor and a pond. The principal image is the Tenkai Mandala, which also enshrines Bishamonten and the demon mother god, but especially Bishamonten statue is said to have the benefit of warding off bad luck and has gained faith, and now Kekoji Temple is "Bishamon-sama of Izumizu". It is also known as the name of. The place name "Izumi" in this area seems to be derived from abundant spring water, but it is true that clean water springs from the wells in the precincts, and several large carps swim calmly in the pond where this water flows. It makes you feel the abundance of water. Also, here at Kakou-ji, it seems that the funeral of the father "Nobuo" (died in Kyoto in 1773, at that time the Kyoto Nishimachi magistrate) of Heizo Hasegawa, the main character of the "Kihei Criminal Book", was held. And it seems to be famous...
