If you're a fan of Blue Bottle, you know that you're going to get consistent quality coffee at all their locations, and the Kyoto branch is no exception!
The baristas are efficient, polite, and exceptional at what they do. There is fairly reliable wifi here, which is not common for many of the Blue Bottles I have been to throughout the world.

Huge contrast in service levels between staff, was a little difficult to communicate with, considering most patrons was tourist, perhaps my accent?
I understand English is not their primary language, that is perfectly understandable, but that's not the point, it's the attitude.
Lemon Cardamom Cake, please avoid, taste is lacklustre and like the Waffle, very, very dry, but taste for waffle was okay, you might want to skip if you're expecting the usual fluffy waffle with some syrup of sorts, it's not, just some sprinkled sugar with a "healthier" texture.
Coffee was good, nice ambience.

Read moreIt's hard to find good espresso in Japan but Blue Bottle is one of the chains that has it AND opens early enough for a morning coffee. I arrived at 09:45 on a Saturday and there was a short queue. The server was nice and helpful but oddly told each customer that seats weren't available when in fact there were. Multiple tables had reserved signs on them but eventually staff removed those and made them available to others. I got the latte and was surprised at how big it was. I would've preferred a smaller size. I also purchased a bag of the Giant Steps coffee beans which are delicious. Good...
