I’m writing this review as I sit on the bus minutes after my meal because the food and experience was THAT good! If I could give higher than 5 stars I would! We stopped for dinner after visiting the kinkaku-ji Temple. Super convenient as it was only a 5 minute walk from the temple. We went on a Wednesday night and it wasn’t busy at all. Service was fantastic. While they did not speak much English, they do have an English menu available and communication with the server was easy. The restaurant gave small business, “hole in the wall”, local vibes! They had a great selection from drinks, to meats to alternative options other than BBQ. We got coke with our meal and they were MASSIVE glasses! We opted to only do the charcoal grill BBQ, but other tables got salads and appetizers that looked great. We tried the “fatty pork” (ie pork belly), assorted seafoods (included squid, shrimp and scallops), beef cheeks, loin, short ribs, top blade and steak tartare. With Rice and Lettuce wraps. Each meat dish came with 4-7 pieces depending on the cut. You could tell that they were quality meat. All in all, a fantastic little spot that I urge you to try out for yourself if you’re looking for something less touristy, local and delicious! When we left, they even gave us a coupon for free drinks our next visit. Would definitely be back the next time I’m in the city!

Amazing food and service for an amazing price! Also no line up :) I ordered around 6 plates of wagyu with medium rice and tea, for about 4500 yen. All meat was fresh, juicy and tender. They are also nicely prepared and handled so you can taste it’s original flavor well. The “harami” was the best! Also they use charcoal fire so the fire add to the flavor , perfect if you like it well-done and with a bit caramelization. Very clean restaurant too. The lady waitress and the male owner and both very friendly, and kindly provided me English menu. And speaking of menu they really do have a variety of options, seafood and many kinds of staple food and vegetables, as well as some desserts. Only few stops from Ninaji and Ryuanji, would be a perfect dinner.

I went with my friends last week for my friend’s birthday and it was a great experience. The bathroom was very clean, and there was only one waiter and he still tried his best. Some of the foods came out slower than others and we had to call for the waiter for the water but we understood how tiring it can be to all of it on your own as a waiter when there’s many tables. Then meat was super fresh, had great homemade feel to it. This place wasn’t a generic yakinuku shop and we can tell they put their own flavors and twist into their kimchi or sauces that they had. The price was fitting and affordable. We had a wonderful experience and we would definitely go back if there’s any nice occasion to!
