A Too Kinkakuji store — Local services in Kyoto

This is still one of if not the best places to find retro games in Kyoto.

Prices have definitely changed. Like most retro game shops in Japan, it's better to buy online / ebay / buyee.

Prices are very high. Due to that, this, along with a whole bunch of other places, are now on my skip it list.

Selection here is fair. There are not many PCE or MD games. Good amount of FC and SFC, though. It's worth the trip out.

Protip: If you are a foreigner, have a list of what you are looking for ready. Don't waste everyones time going back and forth one item at a time. Have the item name in Japanese if you can. Even better, have a picture of the box art of the item you are looking for.

This will make it a pain-free interaction for you, the clerk and everyone else waiting behind you.

Google image is your best resource for this easy to find, prepare ahead of time...

It was a 30 minute trip to get there from my hostel in Kyoto and it was worth every minute. This shop has the best selection of good affordable retro games I have seen in japan with a great atmosphere. Huge selection of ps1&2 games.There were many junk consoles for very cheap prices, as well as below market value gameboys. The console sets were very cheap for their condition. Would rate 4.5 if I could If you’re Around this store it’s definitely worth a stop! Bought a brand new 3Ds here and had Pokemon red and blue through black and white still in the box! The prices aren’t cheep but worth the price if you can’t find anywhere else. Warning this store has an uncensored henti section of the store, so if you have kids watch out for that.
