Adorable and beautiful little place in kyoto, I only have amazing things to say about this place, the food was the best I'd had my whole time in japan and the atmosphere is friendly and intimate. The owners are a couple, the husband speaks English and is easy to talk to and funny, it was an absolute privilege to experience an omakase prepared by these two! I really enjoyed that it was a small place (8 seater), it makes the whole experience more personal and really helps you enjoy the meal too. I came with one other person and there was 2 couples also dining at the same time, it was nice to have great conversation with one of the couples and the owners. If I could give higohisa 10 stars I would, if you have the chance definitely give them a try you won't regret it! Also you can make a reservation through insta, they were very helpful throughout the ups and downs of my reservation! I really...

A lovely omakase experience with delicious fresh ingredients in a cozy, intimate atmosphere. The couple who run this restaurant are super nice and welcoming. The chef speaks English as well and it is enjoyable to watch him prepare all the components of the meal with precision. All the sushi was fantastic and fresh. We learned about a local fish called bouzu ginpo (or prowfish) that we tried for the first time- it was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. There are a very limited number of seats per night so make sure to make a reservation in advance- it was easy to DM them...

This place was a gem that we stumbled upon in Kyoto. We were looking to find an omakase in Kyoto to hit our sushi craving, and this place did not disappoint.

We've been to Sushi Noz, Sushi Yasuda, Sushi Nakazawa, etc. - Higohisa's sushi quality and variety are absolutely comparable to those sushi restaurants.

The owners are super friendly and have a long 40yr history making sushi in Japan and NYC. In fact, their sushi restaurant in NYC (Sushisay) was beloved by many!

I'd highly recommend finding a reservation for Higohisa. You will not be...
