A Superb Morning Coffee Experience at Okaffe. Run by a Legendary Barista

On a rainy summer morning in Kyoto, we stumbled upon Okaffe, tucked away behind another building on a relatively busy street. The location is surprisingly quiet, offering a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle. As we entered, two things immediately caught our attention: the impressive credentials of the head barista and the tranquil interiors.

The head barista, who runs the place, is a multiple-time winner of the Japan Barista Championship, securing first place in 2009, second in 2008, and third in both 2010 and 2012. Additionally, he achieved third place globally in the SCAE Latte Art Championship. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that a coffee legend would be preparing our morning brew.

The interiors of Okaffe are simple yet elegant, with large windows overlooking a traditional Japanese garden. The view of the garden adds a soothing touch to the ambiance, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. We were seated at the bar, which allowed us to watch the master barista at work. It was a delightful experience to see his expertise in action.

For breakfast, we ordered pancakes and a pork and rice dish, along with two cappuccinos. The food was delicious, complemented by a fresh salad. The pancakes were fluffy and flavorful, while the pork and rice dish was hearty and satisfying. The highlight, of course, was the coffee. The cappuccinos were superb, featuring perfectly pulled shots with rich, thick milk. Every sip was a testament to the barista's skill.

The overall experience at Okaffe was exceptional. The combination of a serene environment, delicious food, and top-notch coffee made for a memorable morning. Watching a highly trained barista craft our coffee was a treat in itself. If you're in Kyoto, I highly recommend visiting Okaffe for a tranquil and delightful...

Okaffe Kyoto is a popular coffee shop and roaster located in the Suita City of Osaka, Japan. It has been praised for its high-quality coffee, friendly staff, and cozy atmosphere.

The coffee shop offers a variety of coffee drinks, including espresso drinks, drip coffee, and cold brew. All of the coffee is made with fresh, high-quality beans that are roasted in-house. The baristas are knowledgeable and skilled, and they are always happy to help customers choose the perfect drink.

In addition to coffee, Okaffe Kyoto also offers a variety of pastries and snacks. The pastries are made fresh daily, and they are all delicious. The snacks are also well-selected, and they offer a variety of options to choose from.

The staff at Okaffe Kyoto is friendly and welcoming. They are always happy to help customers, and they make sure that everyone has a pleasant experience. The atmosphere at the coffee shop is cozy and inviting. It is a great place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee with friends or family.

Overall, Okaffe Kyoto is a great coffee shop with high-quality coffee, friendly staff, and a cozy atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to enjoy a cup of...

To be honest, we came in looking for just a coffee and a baked good. Our curiosity got the best of us, and we took the risk on the naporitan - we were pleasantly surprised with it. It's not a classic Italian style, but a Japanese blend on it. Onto the coffee and cake. Get the matcha latte (unless you really don't like matcha). Seriously, do it. Well balanced to let the flavours of the matcha to come through. The bitterness is not pronounced and balances the natural sweetness in the latte. Possibly the best matcha I've had and possibly a good opportunity to step into the world of matcha. Mont Blanc is a nice play on the cake, coming on a bed of pancake. Cream is light and not overhwleming with the chestnut flavour pronounced in each bite. 3 types of drip coffee (1 being a guest rotating coffee) though the day, and a great selection of steamed milk drinks as well. I had the Dandy Blend - a little too dark for me personally, but certainly a quality...

Halfway done with our Japan guide/itinerary (it’s coming so soon)! Shoot us a DM if you want us to reach out when the guide is live for purchase. Here’s a list of the places we ate at in Kyoto. 🌟Katsukura is well known for their tonkatsu but make sure avoid the main location to skip lines (we still waited maybe 30 minutes) 🌟So many cute bakeries in Kyoto, we loved Fiveran 🌟 Semmaruya honten is right in the mean downtown and serves traditional Yuba hotpot which is fried tofu skin, it’s super clean and warming 🌟IMO Pi Pi served this insane purple potato Mont Blanc ice cream with roasted sweet potato pieces, this wow’d us 🌟Pizzeria Marita for some Michelin approved pizza and it may shock you but Japan has really good pizza 🌟Hafuu is a popular steakhouse but go for lunch to try the wagyu katsu sandwich which kind of reminded us of a cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo with pickles on the side 🌟 Ishikawaya coffee is really cute and we went here specifically for their fruit sandwich, they change the toppings seasonally but ours had Japanese oranges and apples - so simple and nice 🌟Tasuki serves massive shaved ices, it’s hard to find on the map but look up the Ace Hotel and it’s in a cute complex. We got the seasonal one with Sakura and mochi 🌟Gion Yorozuya is another Michelin rec but for udon and donburi bowls, super cheap, no frills, and small so you may experience a line 🌟Ramen Sen-no-Kaze is legit and go for the ramen gyoza combo, their char sui pork topping was the best we had in Japan 🌟we were on a gyoza kick in kyoto but Motoi gyoza is our number 1 🌟Isami Sushi for cheap quality rolls we got for take out 🌟 Chao Chao gyoza, surprise surprise, more gyoza and this one had a TWO HOUR WAIT there will always be a wait here but they are very good 🌟 Okaffe was a nice breakfast and matcha spot and apparently they are very famous for their coffee and won a bunch of awards 🌟Nishiki Market - IYKYK, a must go in Kyoto and we’ll be sharing a full video on this 🌟Koe Donuts is for our donut lovers, we got a strawberry mocha donut Hope this helps!!
