Read moreThe girl at the counter in very stupid. We arrived at the store at 12:30pm on a Monday, the place basically empty. And yet the girl at the counter won't take our orders, in her broken English she say "Sit down". We took a seat an waited. But she is taking orders from local people just entering the store.
Apparently, what she meant was "find a seat before you order", but the store has like 10-15 customers and more than 60-80 seats. So, why bother with that system when the store is PRACTICALLY EMPTY. Mind you, only one table is taken on the outside seating, inside seating 7 pax(1 table and 3 on the common long table) and 4 pax occupying 1 table on the second floor.
The managers should be aware of staff training, in a store that is practically empty why impose a "find a seat first system" and more importantly, an instruction given by a person who speaks no English to a place where there are more tourist than locals.
The "seat down" instruction just makes things complicated, when place was basically empty, making people think it was a table service place.
I don't blame the girl, but i think their manager should teach the point of contact to learn to be adoptive, and not be a robot.
Irregardless, of how food is, the staff is the other half of the equation in any service industry business.
The manager needs to be more active if the staff can't think for themselves. Learn from Starbucks management less than 80...
Read moreI visited on a Thursday to take break inside when it got really cold in Kyoto on 12/1. Rich matcha soft serve was good but the customer service was impractical. Matcha desserts are ubiquitous in Kyoto and it wasn’t worth my time only to go outside standing in the chill weather among a million tourists passing by when there were open seats.
There was a sign stating reserve a seat before ordering. There were plenty of seats on the both floors and there were no hosts attending tables. I left a jacket on the table but by the time I came downstairs there were a huge line of 30 students and they kept coming in… I wasn’t comfortable with leaving my stuff unattended for too long so took my stuff with me and lined up.
After a long time waiting in line, the cashier asked if I had a seat and she said I needed get a seat first and come back to order….. She could see there are seats all over on the first floor AND every single outdoor table was available. I was visiting alone and could sit on the big communal table. The group of students all left and probably did the takeout I guess. Tired after sightseeings and irritated after a long wait to order, I told her I’ll just do a takeout. She proceeded tell me that I couldn’t eat on the outdoor tables if I did a takeout.
I could see the store could get really busy at times but the cashier being not pragmatic at all left a...
