Stumbled upon this udon place after walking through Teapot Lane/Chawan-zaka. This really hit the spot for my udon craving. I’ve been to Japan for more than 20 times. Today it’s the worst experience that I’ve never had in Japan. They ignore the order from foreign customers and serve Japanese priorly. The boss is not willing to admit the mistake, and then ask me “ what do you want?” rudely. It doesn’t deserve to receive 3.91/5 in tabelog. There are a lot of beautiful scenes and friendly people in Kyoto, so DON’T waste your time...

Wonderful experience! We saw a sign for udon and thought we’d stop, not realizing it was closed. Despite this, the owner kindly opened his shop and brought us in out of the cold, offering water and hot, delicious udon. The udon was great, and the gentleman’s kindness to three cold hungry tourists when we were expecting takeaway rather than a warm place to eat, was very much appreciated....
