Incredible experience. The staff was so friendly and did speak some English. From the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left the cozy street on which this place resides, we were made to feel like family. We felt at home with every dish and every interaction with the owner/chef and the two support staff. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a taste of Japan, and Kyoto in particular. Only the freshest ingredients used (what’s in season). Portions were fairly large considering there were 8 courses. Incredible flavors (balanced richness, acidity, sweet), textures (ran the whole gamut), proteins (fish, pork, beef, mushroom), and vegetables. The Poseidon sake we tried was perfectly balanced for the meal.
5 stars and no edits. For the price, this is fully worth every penny. My favorite meal in Kyoto, and possibly my favorite meal of our trip to Japan. Thank...
Read moreCalled the restaurant at about 9:30pm on a Sunday to see if they will still serve us, after having already spoke with 2 other sushi restaurants that would not. Women who answered the phone was very nice, said its OK to come. Place looks new inside, intimate with the sushi bar and 3 tables, but not cramped. We were the only foreigners there. Service was outstanding, the staff made us feel welcome. We ordered a few pieces of their daily special fish, several rolls including fatty tuna, tuna scallion and yellowtail, as well as the grilled fish and wagyu beef. Sushi was good but the rolls were the highlight. Not only was the fish of the finest quality but they used a brownish rice which complimented it very nicely. Best rolls we have had in Japan. The fish and wagyu were roasted over charcoal, nice flavor. Dinner come to $200 with sparkling water and sake. Well...
Read moreOne of the best food experiences I've had. For only ¥6500/person we got an 8 course meal. The taste of the ingredients were highlighted appropriately.
They have a selection of beer, wine and sake as well as non alcoholic drinks that will cost an extra ~¥500.
The waitress didn't speak much English but she was very kind and helpful. She gave us a small set of English instructions that told us how the ordering works. The chef on the other hand knew the English translation of the food he served and made it easy for us to know what we were eating.
It was an absolutely fantastic experience than we happened upon.
**Important note, the place has a sitting capacity of 16 people split into tables of 2 or 4 and counter seats. Large groups of people aren't recommended and they have a restriction on children under...
