For those confused about the tempura lunch set, I tried all options for you. The second menu, the tempura bowl with eel, is the most visually Instagramable and offers the best value. The first menu is too small for a visit and long-queue, while the third menu has one more shrimp and fishes, but a lot vegetable tempuras.

The restaurant is highly popular. I arrived early at 11 am before it opened at 11:30 am. I was in the first queue, but by 11:30, there were over 20 people waiting. With only 10 seats on the first floor, tables turned every hour, meaning at least a one-hour wait for a table.

The food was excellent, just as expected. I found the grated yam set interesting, but for my first visit here, I played it safe by choosing Sukiyaki and...

The queue will be long. Get on it and wait, I promise it’s worth it. If you do not want to wait, I would recommend getting here well before opening. My friend and I joined the queue at 11:45 when they opened and we waited an hour. The place is small. I believe there maybe a separate area for reservations, but if you’re a walk-in you will be seated at an approximately 10 chair communal table. They seat only a few parties at a time, so really only 6-7 people. This was hands down the best tempura and pork my friend and I had in Japan. This was the place that confirmed that if the locals are queuing it’s worth whatever the wait is. I had a tempura set and my friend had a pork set. As stated, both were outstanding....

Spring onion with everything! Excellent casual restaurant and originating from Shibuya in Tokyo Good location next to the small river if you can get the 1st floor seats. Wouldn’t recommend the 2nd floor as cramped and just like sitting in a cramped box with only flooring tables. 3rd floor good if with friends as you’ll have whole space

Dishes are great and you can get the same dish in various sizes

If you are coming here avoid the 2nd floor and if you get stuck with that and would prefer ‘ space ‘ then go to their sand restaurant about 8 steps further along the street on the right - same food but better...
