*updates: there are also hair all over the place, like hair stuck in kettle. I guess a lot of people missed the cleaning time... I recently stayed at this hotel that left me with mixed feelings about my experience. While the location was great, I felt that the hotel fell short in certain areas. Firstly, the hotel should not be classified as a 3-star establishment. I have never been in a hotel where it's mandatory to vacate the room between 10am and 3pm, otherwise the room will not be cleaned. This inflexible rule is more commonly found in hostels, not hotels.

The housekeeping staff would knock on the door at 10am sharp and insist that guests leave the room so that they can clean it. If you missed this deadline, you would have to go to the front desk to pick up new towels, which was an inconvenience.

Read moreI would like to make special mention of the excellent service & hospitality by front desk staff SOU SHIN (female) and MATSUOKA (male). This is my first time in Japan, and in Kyoto, for conference. They were so helpful printing out maps for me to be guided to conference venue as well as to visit places of attraction for excursion tours like Fushimi Inari Shrine & KyotoNationalMuseum. The location of this hotel is excellent, right at the heart of the city, near to Takashimaya & a famous gyoza cafe. Room is clean, breakfast is simple & lounge can be used for work when there are no breakfast sessions. Complimentary coffee almost all times of the day & evening, complimentary pyjamas and toiletries incl toothbrush & face wash/face cream as well. This is one of the best affordable hotels I have stayed. Warm, cosy at a fantastic location with excellent smiling staff. Will come again if I...
