Absolutely unacceptable service standard. We arrived around 16:47 and waited for about 20 minutes for a table just to be told three of their FIVE menu items were sold out (including their signature dish). However, they still forced each person in the party to order one dish, we were three people and were going to order extra drinks to make up for it but they still wouldn't allow it; which is ridiculous since there were no mentions at check in about items being sold out (apparently they sold out by 15:00) and we didn't want to order repeat items (we weren't interested in what they still had left to begin with).
If a business has been around this long they should know to have enough ingredients to sustain through their hours of operations or to warn people before they waited for a table or not to force people to order what they did not want towards the end of the day if more than half the items were sold out.
Oh and there was no mention of the one dish per person policy at check in neither.
One of us left and we ordered the two items they had left, which honestly was not that great, you can find way better dessert else where.
Be warned if you decide to visit...
Read moreWe arrived at 2:45pm without a reservation and were seated within five minutes. The inside of the shop is very impressive. It feels like a fine dining experience for desserts.
Another highlight is the staff. Very professional and attentive.
We were seated upstairs and when they were ready to make (top) the desserts they invited us down to watch the process. It was a fun 30 seconds.
As part of ordering your dessert you also have to choose a drink, IE green tea, black tea, coffee or apple juice. Cold or hot options are both available. I chose the cold green tea.
When they brought our desserts up, they also brought a small dish with liquid that accompanied the dessert. This was to be drank with the dessert, but I'm not sure how to describe it.
I ordered the "Sha". It was a pleasant experience eating the Mont Blanc as it had several textures and the chestnut "noodles" were more delicate than I expected. One of the other components melted in your mouth like cotton candy. That being said, I didn't love the chestnut flavor, which is unfortunate because if I did, this would have been a perfect dessert...
Read morestrange place. Found this place randomly while staying at hotel 2 blocks down on the same street. we arrived at the door and multiple employees looked through the windows at us without saying anything. then they came out (finally) and pointed at an ipad where we entered our party number and a receipt came out which they immediately retrieved and then seated us. 🙄 75% of the restaurant was vacant. they took our drink orders. they returned later to get food orders. took a very long time to get the order despite the restaurant being empty. Our 2 drinks didn’t arrive until the food was prepared. They spent 20 minutes preparing desserts for influencers at the window seats. later, i saw mont blancs all over kyoto for half the price. I realized this is an instagram place that caters to people who spend 45 minutes photographing themselves, take one bite, and then leave. 😒 more savory than sweet. we thought there would be icecream but the items we chose (1 traditional montblanc and 1 season fig tart) but none. Wish we ordered the...
