A lovely little family restaurant that we ducked into after seeing it rammed the evening before. On our night we had the restaurant entirely to ourselves which gave us the feel of being family guests rather than customers. This was accentuated by the extremely friendly chat from the owner and his son; mum was a little shyer but equally lovely.
This is the family's 3rd(?) location and I was surprised to hear that the very modern and new feeling restaurant and bay top were actually moved from each of their previous locations. The counter top is actually over 20 years old but the craftsmanship of the work made it honestly feel brand new and smooth like silk.
The food was equally impressive. I can't remember with accuracy what we ate that evening as it's been well over a month since we dined here but I remember it being prepared in perhaps the most confident manner I'd seen in Japan and it was delicious too.

If you are in Kyoto, and you love sushi, this place is an...
Read moreI went to this restaurant the last time I came to Japan. One of my most memorable souvenir of Japan. The food was amazing, but more than that, the owner and his son were adorable. They took the time to explain me about sushi, went to pick a book and show me which fish and fish part of it it was. They even explained the different kind of tuna and the difference between the different parts of the fish, everything with a sushi example to compare the taste. Very memorable moment !
I vividly...
