What a find! Well, I didn't actually suddenly find this place. I've been walking past it for the last three year, wondering if it's any good. Yesterday I went for dinner. I am kicking myself for not having gone earlier. This place is wonderful. The size of the restaurant is deceiving. It doesn't look that big, but once you enter the place has a larger section at the back in front of the open kitchen. The décor is simple but functional with menu boards and informational signs everywhere. The staff are fantastic. Friendly, polite, engaging and very efficient. The food is superb. I ended up ordering 6 dishes. Way more than I should have, but I just couldn't stop. I started with the Ham Caesar Salad, a plate of two flavors Carpaccio, and the Pâté. The dressing on the salad was perfect. A light creamy texture that did not over power the salad ingredients. The Carpaccio had slices of swordfish (I think) marinated in soy sauce with pepper corns and a second set marinated in a light soy sauce with wasabi. Again done to perfection with the marine not over powering the fish's natural deliciousness. Put the star of round one was the Pâté. Light flavors contained in a quite firm block that totally just melts in the mount. I would have like some French bread to go with it, but on its own was fantastic. Round two order was the Shrimp Ahijo, sliced Steak topped with Foie gras in a deep red wine sauce. The Ahijo come with French bread to soak up the shrimp, garlic and chilly infused oil. The shrimp maintained their individual favors while taking on just enough of the garlic and chilly to enhance the experience. I have not tasted a better Ahijo. The steak was cooked to perfect medium rare with a good sized perfectly seared Foie gras on top. All smothered in a matching red wine sauce. The only thing wrong with this dish was that I had to share it with the other person. Next time, I'm ordering one each. By this stage I should have known to stop, but the Meat Pie had been staring at me all night, and I could resist any longer. The outside was fluffy, light and just form enough to be able to pick it up without the contents spilling out. The filling was a more like a Bolognese sauce than a meat pie.
