A Hidden Gem for Vegetarians in Nagoya!
As a vegetarian traveller, I was thrilled to discover Anzu in Nagoya, Japan. This restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way, and I was fortunate enough to visit twice during my stay.
The service at Anzu was top-notch, thanks to Hiro's warm and welcoming hospitality. The food at Anzu was outstanding, and I was impressed by the variety of options available for vegetarians.
On my first visit, I had the set vegan lunch, and was so impressed that I returned for dinner the following evening and ordered the vegetarian Mapo. The dish was spicy and savory, with a perfect balance of flavors.
The clean plates on both visits speak to the quality and deliciousness of the food! I'm already looking forward to returning next year and exploring more of the menu.

We were the only 2 guests in this restaurant during our visit. 2 staff members were present who I assume were the owners (Male and Female). We each received one cup of water about 15minutes after being seated, weren't offered any refills or given extra water once our food arrived.
The male staff member took our order in what appeared to be a disgruntled manner, the female staff member was observed to remain and the bench while the male cooked both our meals. Servings were very small, we both left still feeling hungry. Food took about 30 minutes to arrive for 2 main dishes. Venue was very hot inside - not a pleasant escape from the outdoor humidity. Read moreVery cute restaurant with great vegan options! You feel like you’ve stepped back in time with the vintage music and charming décor. We ordered the vegan nems, black vinegar sweet soy meat, and coconut pudding-everything was delicious and beautifully presented! The owner was a bit quiet at first, but once we started talking, he turned out to be super friendly. He proudly showed us his culinary accreditations from China, and you can really tell he’s passionate about his food. Would...
