Ichibanken Meieki — Restaurant in Nagoya

We were strolling toward Noritake Garden for lunch when we stumbled upon the newly opened ChanPon Ichibanken, and boy, am I glad we changed our plans!

ChanPon Ichibanken is a new spotlessly clean restaurant that serves exceptionally tasty Chanpon ramen. The Chanpon itself was simply delicious. The broth was rich in flavor, and the vegetables - cooked perfectly - still had a nice crunch without being undercooked. Perfection.

We also added an order of gyoza on the side, which was another great decision. The gyoza was crispy and flavorful, making it a perfect pairing.

The decor is modest but functional, with about 8 seats at the counter and several tables. Funny enough, the walls are decorated with arrowed wallpaper, a fake brick wall, and art - it shouldn’t work but somehow does. It's a quirky and comfortable space. The tables, particularly the two-seaters, are the right size for a cozy meal.

The location, however, leaves a bit to be desired. Situated a bit off the beaten track, it’s not the easiest place to find unless you know the area, like we do. Despite being a little out of the way, it's definitely worth the trek if you're looking for a satisfying bowl of ramen.

As expected, the staff were very professional and polite, which, in Japan, is pretty much a standard.

Price-wise, it’s slightly on the high side for Chanpon but still delivers great value considering the quality of the ingredients and portion size.

Overall, a great find for anyone craving Chanpon. Four stars because it’s slightly out of the way and a bit pricier than usual, but the food and service definitely make it...

Highly recommended. I am a traveller who chanced upon this modern and sophisticated ramen place. We don't speak Japanese and were warmly welcomed by the young man who explained the menu and kiosk in details (photos shown in kiosk were self explanatory but he took the extra mile to explain. Walking in, we realized the whole team was yound and welcoming. Ramen soup and noodles were very nice, with vegetables and light peppery taste. The pan fried dumplings were good too! 名古屋ではちゃんぽん屋さんは余り定着しないイメージですが、そんな中、話題となっているコチラは、なんと⁉️
