This place was just spectacular, I left with a warm heart and full stomach! I stumbled past the restaurant on a walk and had to go in and try it for dinner. The chefs are so welcoming to foreigners and they used Google translate to constantly tell me what each dish was and also to chat about my travels and get to know me. The food was absolutely mouth watering and it was a pleasure to watch the two chefs in their craft. I enjoyed beer and was gifted a glass of awamori, which was so smooth! I highly recommend anyone and everyone to try this - don’t fear that the menu is all in Japanese, everything was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere is spectacular! This meal in Australia would cost double the price and the quality of the ingredients would not be as good.

We ordered the omakase set, so worth it with local and made on the spot appetizers, grilled goods, and chawanmushu in addition to the sashimi and sushi prepared in front of us. Chef-sans both were using translator to explain each dish served to us. I enjoyed the cozy and slow atmosphere watching them preparing our dish and little chats exchaged between us with our phone translation 😊. I also ordered additional Okinawa sashimi and grilled eel. Needless to say all were fresh and umami to my satisfaction. Ichigen is slightly off the tourist strip but I highly recommend for a quiet warm sitting with local chefs drinking Okinawa awamori.

Fresh local seafood served in sashimi and sushi, and the soba at last is very tasty when you eat with the red mountain wasabi. They also have a list of awamori you can order! Try the local one “Awanami Awamori” if you like a clean and smooth taste. I will definitely come back to Okinawa for this shop☺️ thank you for the great memories!
