Cafe Plum — Restaurant in Nara

I was wandering around the area looking for a coffee. I'm so glad I didn't end up at Starbucks but here at Cafe Plum. Without exaggerating, I've never felt in a local so comfortable in my 27 years as I did here. Simple but delicious meals are prepared right before your eyes. Although we couldn't really communicate because of the language barrier, I felt like I was having brunch at my grandmother's house. This was the highlight of our visit to Nara. Such an authentic experience and kindness from the woman working there. It is a feeling of going to your grandmas place and she cooking some sandwiches for you. Do not expect fancy Instagram avocado toast, it’s down to earth, humble but very delicious.

When we were out eating our last night in Osaka we started talking with one of the chefs and he recommended us to visit his grandmother's place (Cafe Plum) in Nara. We were so happy he did because the lunch visit was a highlight of our trip. It is a small and cozy place so be prepared to maybe wait a little while for seats.
