Small converted house serving healthy Japanese food. There was quite a wait to get a table. What was quite frustrating was having to wait so long for a table for 4 people. 2 groups of 2 people were shown to their table before us, so be prepared for a wait if coming for lunch as a 4 person group. The food was fresh, light and nice. The tatsutaage pork with sweet sour sauce was great, very well cooked and the other kobachi worked well to cut through the tatsutaage as they were not salty and were chilled and light. Keep up the good work.

Got recommended to this place by my friend's fiancé who is a Nara native. The rice set was delicious and wholesome. The coolest part about this meal was that the drink came after the meal. That is the intention and you are meant to sit and relax with your drink after the meal. The iced tea that I got was refreshing but wish I had gotten something sweeter. Would definitely come again at a more odd time so the wait wouldn't be too long.

(Trip was made back then on 20 Nov 2019, 2 years before the Covid-19 Pandemic hit) This was one of the recommended eateries in Visit Nara’s website was popular as there was a queue and we had to wait for over 30 mins to be seated. It’s set in a machiya (traditional wooden townhouses) which exudes an old world charm. The dishes were simple and tasty which should be popular with ladies.

This was always a must go cafe in Naramachi. A cozy place with both table and tatami seating. The kanagohan (set meal) consisted of the main meal (with various seasonal dishes) together with a bowl of rice and miso soup. A drink was also included in the set. You could choose tea, coffee or juices. My personal recommendation was the fondant chocolate paired with Darjeeling tea.

Around 20min waiting time. Ambient cosy location. Had their seasonal set menu with lots of different things to try out! The portions were perfect for us. Really great coffee, delicious lemon cake and very silky smooth cheesecake! Both English and Japanese menu available.

Chanced upon this resturant after our visit to Nara Park. The resturant is located within an 100-years-old Japanese building which makes the dining experience unique. Even the food and service is excellent. Do drop by if you are around this area 🙂
