Kawatoyo annex — Restaurant in Narita

I enjoyed a fantastic meal at this restaurant renowned for its unagi. Opting for a later dinner time meant I dodged the usual crowds and didn't have to wait in line, which was a stroke of luck. The unagi set meal lived up to my expectations—delicious and fulfilling.

However, there was a slight drawback. Given its proximity to the airport, the restaurant attracts a lot of international travelers. During my visit, there were exuberant groups, including grandmas on video calls with their families, enthusiastically sharing their experience. While it's great to see people excited about their visit, it was a bit much when they started filming around the restaurant, including other diners like myself. Truly an unexpected surprise; after a flight cancellation and recommendation by a character of a taxi driver, we were treated to an excellent experience at Kawatoyo Annex. The unagi was delicious with a bit of a char having been grilled over charcoal, the rice expertly cooked, a compliment to the delicate texture of the unagi, and the sauce had a taste and consistency which amplified the experience without overpowering. 本日は成田山の近辺で次男くんの用事があったのですが、その界隈ならば鰻屋さんだよねということで、こちらのお店に来てみました。

なんでも本店の方は大変混むということで敢えての別館。

11:00の開店に合わせて到着。既に沢山のお客さんが待っておられ5番目の受付。

下調べもせずにナビに連れられるがまま到着。最初はそんなに広くはないのかなと思いきや、いざ店内に入ってみれば庭園はあるは離れの建屋はあるはでかなりの規模。

入口での検温、消毒、感染対策もしっかりしておられるようでした。

店員さんから席はテーブルと座敷とどちらが良いかと聞かれたので、座敷を選択すると、なにやら店内マップのようなものを渡されました。 その案内に従い離れの大広間へ。30℃を超える猛暑の中を少し歩きはしましたが室内はエアコンが効いており大変快適。

冊子状のお品書きはあれど、オーダーはタッチパネル式。老舗でこのようなスタイルはミスマッチかと思いましたが、省人化や感染症対策に一役買っているのでしょう。
