Narita Higashi-ya Hotel — Hotel in Narita

The staff was nice and friendly, and although not a ton of English is spoken there we managed to communicate just fine. Dinner is included in the rate and they phone your room when your dinner is ready in the restaurant. ||||About a 15-20 minute ride to/from the airport and about that long of a walk to the temple and shopping street make this an ideal location is you have some time to kill during a layover or even as a several night base to explore Narita. And it beats the heck out of the standard chain hotels nearer the airport.||||The food was delicious and went well beyond the standard Bento box fare. They have a Western style dining room as well as a traditional Japanese style room complete with sliding rice paper doors and sit on the floor dining tables.||||I would probably only have given the hotel three stars due to the fact that the rooms and furnishings are old and worn and the lack of communication ability makes it hard to get their airport shuttle scheduled (although I speak no Japanese so I can't really hold that against them since they at least speak some English) but the quality of food and the price as well as the location make this hotel...

After arriving at Narita to take my overnight flight to Australia I was tole that my flight had beeen postponed until the next morning due to extreme weather conditions. Japan Air Lines said it was not their policy to arrange emergency accomodation and I was left pretty much to my own devices. All the local hotels were fully booked (mostly by other airlines willing to provide beds for their stranded passengers), A friendly Japanese traveller gave me the phone number of the Narita Higahsiya Hotel, 20 minutes by cab (Y3,000) which had Japanese and western style rooms for just Y6,000. THis humble but charming establishment also had a restaurant serving home-cooked meals. Our welcome was warm and friendly, the rooms quiet and comfortable and the food just great. 駅前のホテルが軒並み一泊15,000円から20,000円だった時に普通の価格帯だったので宿泊しました。予算が限られているので助かりました。（しかし何のイベントだったのか…） 年季が入った建物、接続している飲み屋さんの調理臭が充満していましたが不快ではなく、フロントの方も感じが良かったです。 ロビー自販機のお酒はコンビニ価格より高かったです。

部屋は広く、心配していたタバコの匂いは気にならず、風呂トイレ別、浴槽大きめ、洗い場あり（逆にシャワーカーテンなし）でした。ただ洗面に行くのに入浴後だと毎回足の裏を濡らすことになりますが…。あと個別給湯なのか、温水になるまでに時間がかかりました。お湯の量自体は不満なしでした。音は廊下からは結構、隣室からは少々漏れ聞こえていました。枕元は壁にコンセントはありましたがサイドテーブルと反対側でスマホ充電には使いませんでした。延長ケーブルで引っ張っておいてくれれば便利なんですが…。
