One of my favourite places to eat in Niigata. Besides the tasty and fresh sashimi bowls, my top recommendation would be the buri (yellowtail) katsu don at only ¥650. The place is like a cafeteria but spacious which is important when you have kids. Several staff members are super friendly as well and made me feel very welcome with my broken Japanese.
