I should have read and checked reviews before dining in, staff here was unfortunately quite disrespectful towards tourists. I lined up to get some food and halfway talking to the staff to order, he cut me off and said "sorry I have to serve the other customer". I never pushed in just like that in a restaurant and would never do so, he insisted that the customer behind me was first. Being patient (even after 3 hrs shinkansen trip to Hakone), I waited until he served the lady after me. Had my beef curry (in which, the beef was non existent, it was rice and curry sauce, really), I was still being polite and decided to order some pizza for my husband. After spending almost $40 (AUD) for 2 pizzas and curry rice, he cut me off again, for the second time, while I was ordering (I didn't push in at all, I lined up just like everybody else), and said he has to serve customers behind me. I decided to defend myself this time and said "Look, I didn't push in at all, first of all, and I lined up properly the whole time". Even the next lady behind the other customer felt bad and allowed me to order. The male staff said "in Japan we have strict rules with lining up." I said "we have exactly the same rules everywhere around the world, especially in Australia where I'm from, we don't push in."
It is really sad, considering we had such an unbelievable time in Tokyo, didn't expect people to be racist in Hakone, particularly in a bakery shop here in Odawara station. Unfortunately, in Australia, it's not OK to treat people that way too, considering people have lined up properly.
This is a very weird experience, not sure what issues this guy have here towards an australian tourist as it is completely.not OK to treat anyone like that, neither local or non local. So tourists out there, if you want to dine in here, I wish your experience will be different and hopefully staff here can improve...

This bakery has a cafe attached to it. Since it's located inside Odawara Station, visitors do not have to worry about inclement weather when accessing the bakery after getting off the train or Shinkansen. Since it's located on the north side of Odawara Station, near the opposite exit from the south exit where most of the commercial facilities are located, there are not many users on weekdays and holidays, and at least there are rarely lines. In addition, there is a Starbucks adjacent to the station, and since many customers use the Starbucks as a cafe, there are often even fewer customers using the cafe attached to the station. This may be one of the reasons why customers rarely have to wait longer than necessary for their orders to be served, and some customers take advantage of this situation to spend a leisurely time. It's necessary to order drinks and other items at the order counter in advance. When the food and drinks are ready, you pick them up at the order counter and return the dishes, trays, etc. to the return counter when you leave. Bread purchased at the bakery can also be purchased at the cafe. In addition to bread, there is a wide variety of dishes on the menu, such as pizza and curry, but there are no oddities in either presentation or flavor. Since bread is the main attraction of the restaurant, the food is very...
Read moreJapanese Buns are different compared to the ones we get in Canada. Maybe its the butter and milk they use. Lighter in taste, fluffy. Good for a quick snack in a train ride.
Overall Kel rating: â â â â /5 The good: Great on the go snack. The decent: Just remember outside of the train, more difficulty finding trash bins, hence once you finish, best to dispose in the in-train trash...
