Hands down the best meal I had in Japan, let alone Osaka. It’s an unassuming place from the outside and I suspect it flies under the radar of the tourist scene (I couldn’t find it when I googled in English), but it deserves to be at the top anyone’s list. I wandered in casually on a Saturday evening since it was near my hotel, only to be told it was full (which in retrospect, is entirely unsurprising) but luckily they had space for us the next evening. I went with two friends. Being a Sunday it was quieter and we got to sit at the counter and watch a teppanyaki genius in action. The menu is fixed / tasting menu which means you get the best of what they can do and also relieves the problem of choosing (which actually made it very relaxing after days of deciphering menus on Google translate)! It also means it’s a restaurant for a nice night out, not a quick bite - but it’s time well spent. The food was sublime and the chef had even gone to the effort of looking up the descriptions in English in advance of our arrival so he could explain them to us. It was all so thoughtful and welcoming. My two friends have since had dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Tokyo and said it wasn’t half as good as this one. The price is extremely reasonable for what is an absolutely first rate dinner. If you want to treat yourself to a culinary masterclass in Osaka, this...
Read moreThis was my first time at a Teppanyaki restaurant and I left feeling very happy and satisfied. I am solo traveling so I made a reservation the day before to sit at the bar top area as I wanted to see the chef at work. Upon walking in I was greeted warmly and my coat was taken. They already had my place at the bar set up with my utensils and a warm hand cloth. The three-man team worked well together, ensuring that everyone in the restaurant was cared for. Each course came out with efficient timing and they cleaned as they worked so everything always looked neat. The courses were beautifully arranged and came with a little explanation of what you would be eating and how to eat it (for the 1st timers like me). Not only did the food look good, it tasted great! the sashimi melted in your mouth, the vegetables were cooked to perfection, and the steak was cooked perfectly, medium rare and did not require any sauce as it was seasoned well. The chef was friendly and gave fair warning for picture taking. I enjoyed my dinner very much, with an easy atmosphere and good music. This is a must stop place to celebrate any occasion or just to enjoy a delicious meal....
Read moreAmazing food, fantastic atmosphere. I went with 3 of my friends to eat here and went with the most expensive 11-dish course set. Each dish was prepared to perfection, and an absolute delight to our tongue. The highlight of the meal was the Kuroge Wagyu beef, which were so tender we could cut it with our fork, and basically melted on our tongue. The presentation was also top notch, and made for a feast for our eyes before our belly.
This restaurant is ran by a very nice couple, and they were extremely friendly to foreigners. If you're ever visiting Osaka, particularly the Umeda area, definitely give the...
