I live in Kobe, so I was excited to know about a new halal wagyu restaurant opening up in Osaka. The place was easy to find, following the directions from instagram (which i really appreciated) and google maps. The place is very thoughtful towards muslims with a prayer room and a separate wudhu area 👍 Do be mindful if you are bringing your luggage or baby prams as the restaurant is not very spacious.
I got the Menchikatsu Gyukatsu set which was about 6000yen before tax. A little pricey in my opinions, but the meat was quite a portion. The set comes with rice, miso soup and a nice selection of sauces. The gyukatsu sauce was really really yummy. I also like the wagyu sushi that comes with the set. I really tried to eat as slowly as possible to be able to savour the food but I couldn't help myself 😋
Just a few things that makes me take away some stars (or maybe it was just my luck that day.) The portion of miso soup (about 1/2 the bowl) was lesser than what I was used to and i wish they had at least filled up to 2/3 of the bowl. The steak was really yummy but i had so much trouble trying to eat it because the slices were cut up too big and thick. Maybe given a knife or table scissors would be good if they want to keep the presentation. I ended up having some of the sauces splashed into my hair because of the struggle. The salad should also come in a bowl, it kept falling of the sides and i felt like i had to keep picking them up and cleaning the table.
I don't like talking much, but I was surprised that I was given a little less attention as compared to people who were obviously tourists. Maybe it was just my feeling. I know that water can be provided for free but i was too afraid to ask for it because i was used to having water just delivered to the table from the start. The staff also seemed to have forgotten about my drink and I had to ask for it.
Overall, food is great and I hope the restaurant can continue...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of dining at Halal Wagyu Gyukatsu Shinjuku-Tei and were impressed by our experience. Although our first attempt on Monday was unsuccessful due to their early closing time, we made sure to return earlier today and were delighted we did. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated by a friendly staff member. We were informed that a few items were sold out, but there were still plenty of appealing choices on the menu. We ordered the Ninja Don set (Wagyu cutlet bowl) and the Shinjuku-Tei Gyukatsu set. We thoroughly enjoyed the unique and interactive dining experience of heating the gyukatsu to our personal preference. Our server, Deasi, took excellent care of us throughout the meal, and their attentive service made the visit particularly enjoyable. While the food and service were exceptional, we have a few suggestions that could further enhance the customer experience. A clearer and more organized menu presentation would be beneficial, perhaps with a dedicated section for side dishes that can be ordered alongside the main sets. This would streamline the ordering process and allow for a more personalised meal. Additionally, extending the dinner hours could attract a larger customer base. A last-order time of 8:00 PM might deter potential diners, especially those looking for a later dinner. Overall, the authentic decor and welcoming staff created a fantastic atmosphere. We greatly appreciated the delicious food and the hospitality shown by Deasi and the team. We look forward to visiting again and hope these minor adjustments might...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
Wagyu lovers, this is your moment. Halal. Wagyu. Gyukatsu. In the heart of Osaka. And yes—it’s as epic as it sounds.
⸻
What We Ordered:
Yokozuna Gyukatsu Special Set – ¥12,000 (excluding tax) • 2 extra thick cuts of Yokozuna Wagyu Gyukatsu • 3 pcs of Halal Wagyu Cutlet • 2 pcs Wagyu Sushi • Rice, miso soup & 3 dipping sauces
⸻
The Experience:
Tender? Like butter. Juicy? Like a dream. Crispy? Oh yes.
The moment you bite into that golden-brown crust and meet the pink, marbled center—you’ll understand why this is called Yokozuna (sumo champion) style. The beef is thick, yet melts in your mouth like it’s been slow-cooked for hours.
Each bite was a fireworks show of flavors: • That crispy crunch from the outer layer • That rich umami from the perfectly rare center • That zing from the citrus soy dip • That creamy kick from the wasabi mayo • And don’t even get me started on the Wagyu Sushi—a soft, buttery slice of heaven on rice
⸻
Presentation & Vibe:
The gold tray screams premium. The layout? Beautiful. The portion? Generous. It’s a feast fit for a champion—literally.
⸻
Verdict: If you’re in Osaka and you love beef, this is THE place. Halal diners, this is your rare chance to taste true Japanese wagyu in gyukatsu form, and it’s nothing short of phenomenal.
Come hungry. Come excited. You’ll leave with a full heart, a full belly, and probably a few happy tears.
10/10. Would sumo slam again.
