The food here was really good but on the pricey side compared to other Japanese burger joints. You may read other reviews online saying that they got very few chips with their burger, these are 100% true and we were also surprised with how few chips there were when they say “burgers come with fries”. Fries is a stretch, there’s hardly enough to say that.
The layout of the restaurant is also confusing. The kitchen at the front leave little room for customers to wait for a table. This also means the wait staff either don’t see you waiting up the front or do see you and ignore you. Maybe you’re meant to venture deeper into the restaurant but that’s not typical with 99% of Japanese eateries where you wait by the entrance to be seated.
The wait to be seated was slow. Once we ordered (the English speaking waiter was very helpful) we received our burgers fairly quickly however we didn’t receive our drinks until after our burgers which was odd. The burgers were both good (particularly pleased with the amount of Avocado in the Avocado Burger) but not jaw dropping. The patties were cooked medium rare as requested.
Overall it’s a nice place to grab a burger especially if you’re...
Read moreThis burger place is located on couple of minutes walking distance from Tempozan marketplace area. The bug wagyu patty sign and amazing smell of the burgers got our attention. We stopped here for dinner. The restaurant is relatively small, only few tables available for dine-in. The menu had wagyu burgers in different styles and flavors.
We ordered the classic Dony and Dony cheese burgers. Took them about 10 minutes to prepare the burgers. Upon serving, the burgers looked so appealing. They were actually juicy with amazing seasoning and overall taste. The bread, other ingredients like egg, lettuce and special mayo sauce, all were excellent as well, totally complimenting the wagyu patty. But the potato wedges that came on this side were minimal. There were only 4 pieces of them. They didn’t taste good to me either.
The service was good here. Our server and the chef all were very friendly. Prices of the burgers were also decent, despite being Wagyu steak patties. The price was around $10-$20 USD depending on the burger type. They also had juice, coffee and sodas here, but those were pricier compared to the size of serving. But overall this is a really good place to try out...
Read moreVery average burgers considering the hype and not with the price point.
We got an avocado burger and a cheese burger, along with their combined 3 sides as a part of a set.
Firstly, the fries were under cooked, especially the thicker pieces, and one piece came out with an eye included which my partner cut out. We didn't bother finishing the fries, and I mentioned this to our server as we were paying, and all I got back was an "Oh, sorry." The onion rings and chicken pieces were delicious however.
The burgers themselves were nothing special, and quite expensive considering the quality and flavour. What is the point in asking how you want your burger cooked if it's going to end up being cooked to full doneness anyway? The burgers were also quite over salted and over sauced, meaning you couldn't even taste what made these such special Wagyu beef as compared to regular burgers.
It's a pretty bold claim to say that you'll be sad to return to your home country because your burgers are so good, but thank goodness I can think of plenty of better burgers back in New Zealand. Save your money unless you're hankering a bigger, saltlick...
