Kyushu Ramen Kio Dojima — Restaurant in Osaka

I was staying at the Osaka Hilton and was really craving ramen. Luckily they offer a takeout option. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially since I don’t speak Japanese. They offered me an English menu and were patient while I made my choices.

I had my order ready in about 6 minutes, even with most seats at the downstairs counter full. As expected, they packed the noodles and toppings into the top portion of a 2 part container, with hot soup in the bottom.

I ordered the Tonkotsu Kuroniku Ippon Men and another tonkotsu broth bowl with 2 slices of chashu.

First and foremost, the soup was delicious. It had the body and richness of well made tonkotsu broth, without too much of the oiliness. The Kuroniku Ippon pork rib meat portion was super tender (without falling apart) and the cartilage melted as soon as it hit my mouth. Now that’s a wonderful surprise that I’ll gladly go back for again. Noodles were well cooked as expected. Very much enjoyed my bowl.

My wife had the other bowl and she really enjoyed the tonkotsu broth. She was very impressed with the quality even though it was takeout.

I’ll try their spicy broth and also one of their tomato broths next time. Their takeout option is a huge plus for me. Thank you again for a wonderful meal! Merry Christmas wishes to you...

Service: The service is average. You can order at the table, and they accept both card and cash payments. They also allow split bills if you’re in a group, so just make sure to remember what you ordered (I usually take a photo of my order for reference).

Cleanliness: The restaurant is fairly clean, but nothing stands out. It’s a small space, but it’s well-maintained.

Food: The ramen here features a thick and flavorful broth—delicious and comforting. The ramen noodles are thin, similar to Ichiran ramen, and the pork chashu is tender and melts in your mouth. The side dishes are also tasty! However, please note that this is a non-halal restaurant, as the ramen broth and other dishes use pork as a base ingredient.

Overall: Kyushu Ramen (which we fondly call “Turtle Ramen” every time we visit Osaka) is a great spot for satisfying and flavorful ramen. I’ve been here a couple of times, and the taste and quality have never disappointed me. If you’re staying nearby, you should definitely...
