I have had a good experience previously in a different branch of Mimiu, however I was thoroughly disappointed this visit. But not with food. The food was superb. I was waiting from 18:30 and I noticed that incomplete parties were seated (table NOT reserved) and there was a very long queue waiting. I saw a group of people sitting for at least an hour (that was the length I waited) and was still there after I seated. I don’t think the restaurant should be used as a “waiting room” with children, whilst some of the adults go shopping and have a place to go for dinner when the time comes. The same group of people have two children, who was very frustrated by the time I sat down and they were crying. The other thing that baffles me was the way the seats are managed. Knowing it is a small and busy restaurant, I was not able to understand the reason why there are empty seats between some customers round the bar counter. By being flexible, table of 2 can easily be arranged and fit on to the bar counter, and move the queue quicker. Furthermore, there were no system in place to ensure a smooth operation - the staff all have the same responsibility, and at one point I saw two people going to the same table who wanted to order food. Finally, whilst I accepted reservation will secure a table, the restaurant is in a very busy train station, the availability of a reservation defeats the purpose of a station restaurant.

Many of our meals in Japan're inside, or near train stations as we used trains as the main means of transportation. Luckily, we'd no bad meal anywhere. Many eateries can be recognized by half- curtains ( noren). Japanese meals are often served so art- fully! We entered this lovely place just because their menu'd clear English words beneath Japanese scripts & beautifully illustrated pictures of dishes. It calls MiMi U in English. From the moment we ordered until we left, EXCEPTIONAL everything❤. From the fish to the ginger is of optimum freshness and quality. MISO soup's so tasty. The secret lined in the golden color broth. At that time- we did not know that we had luckily been served by a famous business that had a history of more than 200 years. Their great attention to culinary aesthetics naturally favours portions that are small. Can't say Thank You enough to the chefs & staff. Their stores are now expanded to other locations in Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya....

Having my dinner here. The shrimp was so fresh and still alive! We ordered the package and add beef. The beff was so tasty and melted directly in mouth. The soup is good, not too salty. The veggies were also fresh. The service was good. The price is a bit pricey but it was worth it.
