I had the Bukkake Udon (hot not cold) which is like a regular bowl of udon but with half the amount of soup and I ordered king prawn tempura on the side. Probably one of the best bowls of udon I’ve had in Japan and I have lived in the country for about 5 years. My partner had the Niku Udon (hot) the beef was super yummy and well cooked but didn’t overpower the soup. The noodles were perfectly soft. Not at all rubbery or overcooked and the soup was really punchy and delicious. It had a traditional taste but with something extra I couldn’t out my finger on. The ambience is exactly what you’d expect from a great udon restaurant, totally understated, with no stylish/modern interior, just the essentials for putting together some Real Food. Lastly the staff were lovely. Like really. Smiley, kind, helpful. Granted I speak Japanese so I can’t really relate people who don’t but… at one point I asked for “su-pu wari” which is something you usually get at ramen shops when you have a bit of left over soup and they add a hot, clear stock so you can enjoy a little bonus soup. They didn’t have it but because I asked they tried their best to make it for me which I really appreciated and I DID drink every last bit of soup.
Great experience, I will be back and recommend to anyone who wants a proper...
Read moreWe were here on our visit in Osaka for a few days. After the visit here, i searched tokio for another expierence, which could come close to this restaurant. Didn't accomplished that sadly. The Udon Noddle soup with beef was just perfect. In europe a clear 5/5. The atmosphere is typical and you come here to eat and not to stay, because there aren't much seats available and all of them were at the bar style cooking area. But we didn't care. The soup was great, the beef was tender and juicy. If you can read japanese you will have no problem, if not, the staff was nice to help us out, because there is no english menu available. Best is, the udon can be ordered with more noodles without extra costs. (1 serving, 1.5, 2 etc.). Basically: you pay for the soup and meat, udon is to get you happy and full for a good price. All thinks considered: Best place on our 2 weeks trip for curry udon and can easily compete with every other meal we had.
I still miss...
Read moreFound this home made udon noodles place near where we stayed in Osaka. Dropped by right at the opening time to avoid line up. It was not a big place. More like a udon noodles bar eating around the chef as you see how they prepare the food for you. Pretty cool. They have many options and choices. The chef recommended us to try the no. 1, 2 or 3 from the menu and we were glad we did. We picked the Special no. 3 which is undo with 2 deep fried shrimp along with their two eggs in special soup broth poured over freshly cooked udon noodles. The dish is hot (temperature) and we enjoyed very much along with the side seasoning and pickled radishes. Even with about 1700 yen per bowl, we were very happy with what they offered. Tasty broth and nicely cooked eggs in the broth poured over udon and garnished with chopped green onions and fresher made shrimp tempura. Highly...
