We absolutely loved everything about this place. We arrived just before they opened for the evening on a Sunday, and they sat us immediately at the sushi bar even though we are a family of six. All the fish was absolutely first rate and very well prepared. Their tuna choices were particularly good. Unfortunately there was no uni available. Cooked dishes such as agedashi tofu and beef tataki are freshly prepared behind the bar on a stove/grill and very worthwhile. The owners are so warm and kind -- even though we speak no Japanese and they speak no English, we felt very welcome. The restaurant is comfortable, located in a quiet street, and feels well established in the neighborhood (not fancy or touristy). Cash only. Highly highly recommended.

This was the best meal of our two-week visit to Japan. This place epitomizes the craftsmanship of sushi and sashimi, with over 100 years of experience spanning four generations. It is truly a gem of Osaka and well worth the trek to Hanazonocho to savor the incredible food. A visit to Osaka would not be complete without dining here. We were a group of five and ordered multiple dishes each. Check out their IG: @yamazushi_osaka

A wonderful spot that offers a delicious eight-piece set of nigiri. We went around 5:30pm and it was quiet but they were very welcoming. The language barrier can be difficult but they were very kind in explaining everything and even guided us on how to eat the nigiri the best way. I would highly recommend coming here for a great eating experience! I also recommend pairing your meal with green tea.

The sushi were super fresh. Although there was a language barrier between me and the lady, she tried to introduce me to proper ways of eating them which felt really warm and welcoming and as a tourist that’s what I wanted. I would say the variety of sushi is just enough… though it does vary for everyone. Me and my family ate A LOT because of how delicious they were. I would definitely recommend the raw shrimp sushi and...
