Yama Sushi — Restaurant in Osaka

We absolutely loved everything about this place. We arrived just before they opened for the evening on a Sunday, and they sat us immediately at the sushi bar even though we are a family of six. All the fish was absolutely first rate and very well prepared. Their tuna choices were particularly good. Unfortunately there was no uni available. Cooked dishes such as agedashi tofu and beef tataki are freshly prepared behind the bar on a stove/grill and very worthwhile. The owners are so warm and kind -- even though we speak no Japanese and they speak no English, we felt very welcome. The sushi were super fresh. Although there was a language barrier between me and the lady, she tried to introduce me to proper ways of eating them which felt really warm and welcoming and as a tourist that’s what I wanted. This was the best meal of our two-week visit to Japan. This place epitomizes the craftsmanship of sushi and sashimi, with over 100 years of experience spanning four generations.
