One of the famous soup curry shops in Sapporo. I remember that it was in the Aso area of Kita-ku, Sapporo long ago. Enter the 36th street on the large road where Susukino City Tram runs, heading north on the station square. There is an Irish pub on the left and a Mos Burger on the corner. It takes less than 5 minutes on foot from Susukino Station on the subway Namboku Line. In front of the store, there is also an entrance that allows you to go back and forth from Pole Town, an underground walking space. Since Mos Burger is only here for Susukino, it is easy to understand when you see Mos Burger as a landmark. The store is on the first basement floor. The entrance is decorated with a lot of photos and signs of celebrities and famous athletes. There are table seats and counter seats, and there are two chairs for small children. The menu is almost only soup curry. Drinks and a couple of snacks and desserts. There seems to be alcohol. I went past 2 o'clock, so my favorite Pakistani roux was sold out. Most shops will tell you about out-of-stock menus in advance, but this is not helpful. It was a waste of time because I spent a lot of time worried when ordering. I don't like Japanese style, so I decided to order coconut green soup for a plus fee plus 50 yen. I chose okra for a free topping. In addition to okra, there are only 3 types of toppings: broccoli and lotus root. There are 10 levels of spiciness and additional charges will be incurred from Spiciness 6. Rice ranges from small to large, with additional charges from large. You can choose between white rice and 15 rice. But the rice that came out doesn't look like 15mm rice, and the bitterness is quite unfortunate because it is close to ordinary white rice. I ordered tandoori chicken and vegetable curry with coconut green soup and spiciness at 4. It ’s a thinner soup than I had imagined. I expected the color and darkness of a green curry, but it wasn't very dark and the overall spice flavor was quite weak. The spiciness was 4, so it wasn't spicy at all. It was better to give it a little more. The whole vegetables were thin, and overall, all the vegetables were small and the feeling was different from the pictures. The chicken was surprised because the bones had been removed beforehand. I ate a lot of soup curry, but this is the first time that the bones have been removed except for the restaurant that says Boneless Chicken. I chose this menu because I wanted to eat bone-in, but the tandoori chicken is in it. And she is small. If you like the light taste and smooth soup curry, this is a good restaurant. I like the soup curry that has a deep spice taste and a little dripping soup...
Read moreThis cozy spot was recommended by the receptionist at our hotel, and what a fantastic suggestion it turned out to be! Hokkaido is famous for its soup curry, and Curry Shop S does it exceptionally well.
I tried the regular curry soup with a spice level of 4 (hot), while my wife opted for the coconut green curry soup at spice level 6 (very hot). Both were bursting with flavor — rich, aromatic, and perfectly balanced. The depth of spices, fresh ingredients, and comforting warmth made every bite memorable.
The service was friendly and attentive, and the overall atmosphere relaxed and welcoming. We left feeling happy, full, and already talking about coming back on our next trip to Sapporo. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience authentic Hokkaido-style...
Read moreWe tried soup curry for the first time today at Curry Shop S and were surprised by how much we loved its taste. We came at 6:30pm expecting a line but were lucky not to wait.
The staff were friendly and we were given an english menu to order. We chose 4 items: the combo, deer steak, squid ink, and tandoori chicken curry.
All the dishes were delicious and we appreciated the customisation options (you can choose spiciness, toppings and rice). We found 4 serves for 4 people a perfect amount of food.
We had a very pleasant time trying soup curry and highly recommend...
