There’s nothing better for dinner on a cold day than Shabu Shabu aka hotpot. Gyuzen offered an all you can eat wagyu menu ranging between 4 different cuts and regional beef. Keep in mind that all Japanese beef is wagyu beef. You can also choose the hotpot style either shabu shabu (water), sukiyaki (soy based mixture), or a mix of both. We ordered the mix pot with the black cattle (黒毛)package which costs 6,180 yen for 120 minutes. Along with the beef you can also order unlimited amount of vegetables, mushrooms, and noodles. The shabu shabu comes with the sesame and ponzu sauses table side while sukiyaki comes with the raw egg (unlimited refills).
The restaurant was very spacious enough room for us and our shopping bags. There are English menus so you shouldn’t have too much trouble, that being said the staff doesn’t understand much if any English so if you have questions use google translate. We came here during a weeknight so there were no lines or reservation required. The staff was very friendly and introduced the menu, but we did have to flag them down a few times to order more food and to add more soup before the pot dried up. The restaurant was on the pricey side and you can probably save money by ordering the domestic chuck or Hokkaido rib roast for 3,200 yen and 4,200 yen respectively.
This is a chain restaurant around Japan so depending on where you are the cuts and region of the beef offered...
Read moreMy mother in law and wife were not impressed with their service. Whatever we ordered for side dishes, they never brought them to our table unless we paged them🙁 Food was not the worst, yet they could have covered that with better and faster service. This lady, who was doing cashier and serving, was not rude, but then she couldn’t greet and help us when we claimed our food, and told them we didn’t want them after 1 hour from our first order (she brought them afterward and we had to take them anyway). I understand that they are not the 5 star restaurant, but we are still paying something. I hope they treat other customers better from today onward (we won’t be back, but good luck😌🙏🏻).
P.S. really wished that we could have had this first!!! (We were done eating shabu shabu after one hour, then appetizer? Didn’t...
Read moreFirst of all, we booked a table at 19:30, Staff are nice and table is ready for us. We decided to take Sukiyaki ‘All you can eat’ option. Food is fine except it takes a while for staff to response. The big problem is ‘All you can eat’ allows 120 minutes is clearly stated on the menu, around 21:00( about 90 minutes passed)the staff came in and said last order has gone so we are not allow to order anymore. To be honest, I would be satisfied if the staff came in and say this will be the last chance to make an order instead of denying. Also, when we have the bill there were 4drinks where we only ordered 3drinks only. I still think the staff messed up the table number causing this series of problem. Overall attitude is good but very disappointed by the...
