Hamakko Odori Tokeidai — Restaurant in Sapporo

A rather overpriced meal & overall poor dining experience. Bill (without alcohol) was over 10000 yen for 2 Kaisendon with 1 side dish. The default bowl serving size was rather small (almost same size as miso soup bowl), only deluxe size, serving portion would be decent. Items that would usually be complimentary, such as small appetiser & drinking water were all chargeables here.

We were appalled that Kaisendon was served with vinegared rice instead of traditional plain hot rice. Was the restaurant confused between Kaisendon & Chirashi don or the seafood's level of freshness needed it to be served on vinegared rice? Customer service was also seriously lacking. Despite having a reservation & the restaurant was barely 1/3 full, we were made to share our 4 seater table (joined by 2 seater tables). In the midst of our meal, staff came by to abruptly separate the 2 joined tables, leaving a 1 inch gap in between so as to seat 2 customers who had just arrived. 1 inch gap was certainly too close for comfort, especially when there were so many other empty tables! Tabelog had them all booked out for the night so I tried my luck and was fortunate to be given a table. Service was excellent.
