Fresh & Fun Seafood Experience at Sapporo Morning Market!
We visited this popular seafood spot in Sapporo Morning Market around 9.45 AM on a Monday in April 2025, and even then, there was a queue of about 10 groups ahead of us! Thankfully, the wait was manageable, around 30 minutes. They have seating outside for those waiting, or you can easily spend the time browsing the many interesting shops in the market selling souvenirs and dried goods.
The menu leans heavily towards raw seafood options, which might not suit everyone. Luckily, there was a dish of "torched" seafood selection - which includes a platter of salmon, scallop, crab, and tuna etc, all beautifully seared right at our table with a blowtorch. If you prefer your seafood cooked a bit more, you can even request additional torching.
The seafood was incredibly fresh – juicy, soft, and tender, practically melting in our mouths. It was a testament to their quality and popularity. Speaking of popularity, they even have a second outlet located about 150 meters away from the main one, which speaks volumes about how well-loved they are.
Overall, this is an excellent place to enjoy a reasonably priced and incredibly fresh seafood meal...
Read moreI had No. 125 the crab bowl. There was a small wait at midday on a Friday in early spring. The staff were friendly and accommodating for a solo travelling foreigner. Write the number item you want on the order slip at the table and the staff will bring it out to you. The tea they serve when you sit down is great. I think it was roasted green tea but I’m no expert in tea. It was tasty though! The miso soup that came with the crab bowl was light and refreshing. It wasn’t too salty and there wasn’t too much/too little. The portion size was right as an accompaniment to the crab bowl. The crab sat atop vinegar rice. Which is what you usually get with sushi. The vinegar was sweet and the flavour stood out above just plane riced. Ginger and wasabi are served with the bowl. Both are very fresh. The ginger had that fresh ginger hit despite the pickling. The wasabi was strong. I’m not usually a fan of wasabi unless it’s with a lot of raw tuna. I found it to be a little overpowering with the crab personally. The crab is shredded so not chunks if that’s what you’re looking for. I would recommend the dish as it’s very reasonable for the...

Baked crab shell with cheese - very flavorful. Great crab flavor.
Abalone was not as tasty as I like. I would skip it unless you love abalone. The texture is very tender.
Grilled scallop - Must try!!! So tasty, So fresh!
Kaisen don - The sushi rice was disappointing. I was hoping for more flavor. However, the salmon was amazing. It's fatty salmon, like eating Toro. It's so fresh you can tell by the bite. Toro was amazing too.
Crab soup - If you like crab, must order! I am not much of a crab person and I loved it!!! So flavorful!
You come here, grab a number and make sure you are here when your numbers are called. We had 6 people part in front of us but when called they weren't there. And then somehow, the restaurant stopped taking numbers and when they returned, they were turned away. I felt bad for them. After we finished lunch, we came out and they started taking numbers again. ...
