Nijo Market in Sapporo was a fantastic experience, living up to the high expectations set by our visit to Hakodate Morning Market the days before. Arriving on April 18, Friday, right at 7 AM when the market opened, we witnessed a steady stream of visitors pouring in, eager to explore the fresh seafood and local specialties. The market offers an impressive selection of crabs, salmon roe, sea urchin, and other fresh seafood, making it a paradise for food lovers. Many vendors also provide dried and processed seafood, perfect for souvenirs or home cooking. The atmosphere is lively yet welcoming, with vendors engaging warmly with customers. One of the highlights is the opportunity to enjoy a fresh seafood breakfast at one of the marketโs restaurants. The uni ikura donburi (sea urchin and salmon roe on rice) is just so wonderful for me eating raw seafood for the first time, delivering rich flavors and freshness that define Hokkaidoโs culinary excellence. Overall, Nijo Market is a great spot in our visit to experience Sapporoโs...
ย ย ย Read moreThe wait time was pretty short when we were there around 5pm. You have to write your initials on the wait list paper at the front first. You have to be near there when they call your name. They will take your order first before you walk in or wait until you are inside. We were drawn by the large portions of Sea Urchin (Uni) and the ikura!
Food: My wife and I ordered the meal set A which came with miso soup. It was so fresh and warm! The main dish was full of ikura and Uni with a raw egg in the middle. It was so good! Of course we had to get a classic Sapporo beer and it was so smooth that even my wife who never drinks actually enjoys it!
Service: Itโs a self-service when it comes to getting water or tea. When I went up it was always empty and took a while for them to fill it up since they are always moving.
Overall: I highly recommend here for there fresh...

Ordered the following:
The difference between premium and regular bowls is the replacement of regular tuna with fatty tuna. Both tasted good. Each don also came with a bowl of miso soup.
Generally very good food. Good portions and seafood were fresh. Did not need to wait long for the food to arrive either.
