Delicious Curry, but Prepare for a Wait.

I recently visited Soup Curry GARAKU and indulged in their mouthwatering Pork with Seven Mushrooms Curry. While the curry itself was absolutely delicious and worth the visit, I must admit that the waiting time was quite long, so be prepared for some patience.

The restaurant's ambiance was cozy and inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy a hearty meal. The staff members were friendly and attentive, making sure everyone felt welcomed despite the wait. I appreciated their efforts to keep customers informed about the expected wait time and providing updates along the way.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the Pork with Seven Mushrooms Curry. The curry had a rich, aromatic flavor that was perfectly balanced, and the combination of tender pork and an assortment of mushrooms was simply delightful. The portion size was generous, ensuring that even the hungriest appetites would be satisfied. The curry was served piping hot, and the flavors intensified with each spoonful.

However, the wait time was a bit excessive. It's important to note that Soup Curry GARAKU seems to be a popular spot, so it's not surprising to see a crowd. If you're planning to visit during peak hours, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance to avoid disappointment.

Despite the lengthy wait, I would still recommend Soup Curry GARAKU to curry enthusiasts and those looking to explore unique flavors. Just be sure to allocate extra time for your visit or plan accordingly to minimize the impact of the wait.

Overall, the delicious taste of the Pork with Seven Mushrooms Curry made up for the extended waiting time. Once you take that first flavorful bite, you'll understand why people are willing to endure the wait. Don't forget to try out their other curry variations as well—they're definitely worth exploring!

Enjoy your curry adventure at Soup Curry GARAKU!

Note: This review is based on my personal experience and reflects my honest opinion. Waiting times may vary depending on the day and time...

Very reasonably priced place. The main concern is the queue length. The place opens at 1130 however it is imperative to come beforehand, they start handing out queue tickets at 1100 and there is already a prequeue to this prequeue. There is a URL on the ticket that helps track the queue, hence after taking the queue ticket you may start wandering around. I came at 1100, had ticket number 37, was seated around 1240 and served shortly after. The staff were very prompt, helpful, and spoke English.

The place was delightful, the tables were spaced very generously apart and the staff were polite as well. I ordered the pork belly curry soup which has limited servings per day for about 1300 Yen. The meat was outstanding, spiciness level 3 which indicates "hot" on their menu (the scale ranges from level 1-20). Personally, I feel that the broth cannot be considered spicy. Hence for spice enjoyers, I recommend ordering higher levels. The meat was fatty and fragrant all the way through, the soup was topped with various vegetables which all of them tasted good in a generic way. Overall, I felt that everything about my experience there was superb except for the queue which mostly consisted of foreigners, just like me. I would probably not visit again as I know of a restaurant not far from Sapporo Station which serves the same quality food but with a lesser crowd.

Final thoughts: Good place great service. However due to the queue, try it once and explore...

We stumbled across this place on accident without realizing how popular it is. We liked it so much that we went back again the next day. When you arrive you have to go downstairs to get a ticket to get in line. The physical line means nothing. It’s just people waiting for their number to be called. Skip past all of them and just go straight down to the ticket machine. Then expect to wait at least an hour or more depending on the day and time. We waited about an hour on Thursday night at 7:45pm. We got there at 11:15am Friday (15 min before opening) and there were already 40 groups ahead of us. We ended up waiting about 1.5 hours. You don’t have to wait at the store though. Get your ticket and go do something else. Go hang out at a coffee shop or something. You have enough time.

We got the chicken curry and both pork curries. The chicken was better in my opinion. The pork belly was tough and overcooked but the chicken was super tender. The soup is absolutely perfect. So much flavor, so much spice, fresh herbs, amazing vegetables. They oven roast the broccoli and top the soup with it so that the broccoli is crispy. The rice is seasoned as well. So much care and attention to detail. Food is exceptional. Price is very reasonable. Chicken curry is ¥1100. Amazing. Would come back...

Everything I ate in Hokkaido Japan day seven 🇯🇵 Sapporo is super snowy - so even more reason to do a food tour around town! Breakfast: I went for a browse around Nijo Fish Market then to 玉翠園 tea shop for a green tea tasting. This is a family business over three generations and the elderly owner was kind enough to offer a free tea tasting and lesson on the best way to prepare green tea! I walked away with a LOT of matcha and a ceramic teapot - as well as his homemade matcha soft serve along with Hokkaido soft serve. It had a red bean filling too! Delish. Snack: - Negitorodon and kaisen-don with 10 different types of seafood from Shihachi inside COMICHI. Look at my pinned reel for my details! Lunch: Chicken thigh soup curry from Soup Curry Garaku. I get the hype! The customisation, the heat levels, the light soupy consistency! Separate reel coming. Dinner: - A random izakaya to hide from the snow storm. The first one I ducked into based on the vibes inside - over google reviews. The food was ok. I wouldn’t go back but had an extensive menu including kushikatsu, tempura, sushi, udon and okonomiyaki. Final snack: - 🍓 season in Japan and these cost a pretty penny. Good thing they’re one of the best I’ve had. These are from Saga - candy like sweetness, bright and the paler colour is from less exposure to the sun. Rare to find and worth it.
