After being rudely turned down from a popular crab restaurant, I still wanted to eat king crab. Then I came across to this fancy teppanyaki shop, having very little hope because I don’t have a reservation but the staff welcomed me with open arms. Definitely an amazing first impression.
Majority of people come here for top quality wagyu course but I’m here for fresh king crab so I chose the least popular seafood 8-course meal. 16000yen! But it’s a special occasion so I guess it’s ok.
Seafood course includes: Bouillabaisse seafood soup, Salad, Grilled prawn of fish (I got fish), Scallop, Grilled local vegetables, Hokkaido king crab or Spiny lobster (easy choice, crab is king 👑), Crab fried rice or Garlic fried rice, Dessert and coffee or tea.
Grilled fish was pretty good, crispy skins along with mustard seeds sauce. Scallop, surprisingly very ordinary. Not the best scallops I had in Hokkaido. Crab fried rice was simply superior. No one in the right mind would choose garlic fried rice. Even the chef jokingly told me to just choose crab! lol.
Grilled local vegetables: Spinach, potato and mushrooms. Everything was pretty awesome. Hokkaido never fails to disappoint when it comes to fresh vegetables and seafood.
Grilled Hokkaido king crab was the absolute main highlight. I was relieved to see a display of fresh, raw king crab that I will get to eat. Butter soy sauce and sake compliments the natural sweet flavor of king crab flawlessly. The crab itself was soft, succulent! It’s ridiculous how crazy delicious king crab truly was compared to other type of crabs.
The chef who cooks my seafood course, her name is Kiyoko Yusa. She literally one of the best teppanyaki chefs I ever met. She’s a proper entertainer, the way she cooks everything on teppan grill was absolutely beautiful, enjoyable to watch. Her cooking style was cool, steady pace, elegant all around and very skilled. Due to my limited Japanese language ability, we only had decent amount of conversation throughout the dinner and it was fun chatting with her.
If the owner read this, please let chef Kiyoko know that I really appreciate her cooking style and thank for introduced me the shoyu+wasabi powder condiment which was very unique.
When I come back to Hokkaido next time. I will choose wagyu beef...
Read moreCame here for beef teppanyaki as it was close to hotel. Overall service and food was really good however be prepared as it's pricey. It was a good experience watching the chef preparing and cooking right in front of you. Food was exquisite from appetizer to dessert. Course meal is very filling. Restaurant serves course meals and ala-carte. Ambience is high end with private rooms.
The walking map lead us to the back of the building and it took me a while to find it. The building entrance is facing main road at Susukino. Look for Sushi Zanmai or Tempura Ebiten, the steakhouse is within the building in between this two restaurant.
Special thanks to other reviewer's photo that showed a views of the opposite building signages from the window in...
Read moreWe found this teppanyaki online after driving in at around 6pm. There were already some good reviews in English and many more in Japanese. We took the chance of walking in with no reservations and were accepted at the counter. To our delight Chef/Owner Ishizaki attended to us personally. we ordered 2 different set meals ,their 22nd anniversary set and the chef's recommended beef tannou course. The food quality was excellent and it was a treat to watch the Chef at work whilst seated at the counter. Chef took pains to explain all his dishes, often resorting to google translation to get his message across. We found the dinner to be very good value in lieu of the premium quality and freshness. Will definitely refer and...
