I went for dinner and breakfast at AGI. It was disappointing.
Dinner was atrocious. We paid ¥20000 per person, which is a huge amount for what we got. I expected a large amount of food for that money, so we went with 1 set per 2 people. That was a mistake. The first course was a pice of beef wrapped around some mushrooms. I am by no means a person who needs to eat a lot, but there were only 2 inside. Shared between 2 people, it was not enough. We though it was an appetiser, so we waited for the main course.
The next dish was a piece of mushroom surrounded by some white radish. Again, underwhelming, but not too bad. Still waiting for the main course. After that we had a bit of salmon and scallop sashimi, still, only 2 small bites and it tasted quite good, but not enough. Next was the prawn plate. It was just a few prawns, and that was it.
Finally, there was the ‘main’ course. It was extremely underwhelming. With the massive pricetag of ¥20000, I expected a good amount of rice and some nice veggies and meat to go along with it. That was not what we got.we got a small steak, which was nice, but the rest was bad. The rice only filled up the bottom of the bowl, and could easily be eaten in a few bites. The miso soup was alright, with 2 mussels inside. Overall, not enough for dinner.
Finally there was some dessert, which was even more underwhelming than the rest. It was some fruit and coffee ice cream. I feel like they put barely any fruit on the plate, and the fruit that was there was not fresh and tasted a bit old. The coffe ice cream was very bland, and barely had any taste to it.
For dinner, I would say that ist is a ripoff, and getting close to a scam. When we called, they said they were booked out but someone cancelled, but in reality there were no more than 3 tables with people there. For the ¥20000 we had to pay for this dinner, it was extremely underwhelming and I am not satisfied. And side note, for any vegans or vegetarians, there is meat in most courses, and not many vegetarian options. Would not recommend, 0/5.
EDIT: I forgot to add some dishes, but the overall review is the same. You can see some pictures of what was mentioned in other peoples’ posts
Breakfast was pretty alright. The buffet had some nice food and some nice scenery was seen from the window. There were many Japanese classics such as miso soup and some more western style dishes as well. Overall, the breakfast was like most other buffet breakfasts at Tomamu, which is a pretty...
Read moreGreat views for breakfast. It is a half buffet for breakfast. They offer 4 choices for main dish for breakfast. Some soup, sides, breakfast items, and desserts available at the buffet bar.
We picked hamburger and beef stew. The hamburger arrived in a diy form (make it yourself), which was a surprise to us; you get the lettuce tomato, cheese, etc from the buffet bar yourself, quite interesting and fun to do. The stew was alright, the beef was quite lean.
There was some interesting ice cream flavours, so it was fun trying those.
Staff seated us promptly and try to find the best table for our group.
Overall, I recommend getting the burger. The choices of food is less than Forest (the other hotel breakfast restaurant). The view here is quite nice and seats are facing out the window so it felt nice spending the morning enjoying the nice ski slopes + tower view. It is good to try this place for breakfast for one of the days during stay, but I prefer Forest for the choices of food there. Happy that I tried this place though during 1 of my 4 days...

We went to this restaurant for breakfast (which is included in the accommodation) at the beginning. I was happy with the breakfast and decided to give the dinner a try (which is not included in the accommodation).
They lie to us (probably they might tell you the ssame story) about the resuatrant was fully booked and there‘s one cancellation just came up. The fact is , during our 2 and a half hours stay. there are only 2 tables(2 persons each) other than mine was taken.
Grilled AGI charge 20000 Japenese Yen per dinner set and the surprising small portion was not even enough for a 10 years old kid. The food tasted very average.
I never wrote about restaurant review and the dinner in Grilled AGI make me decide to share my disaster to anyone who is considering having dinner at this place.
The breakfast deserve the average 3.6 stars. But when it comes to dinner, I have to say, this is the worst price...
