中国料理小満 — Restaurant in Takayama

I ate here last night and it was an incredible meal, dare I say one of the best I’ve had in Japan. The service was great but the food was overwhelmingly incredible. I’m from Chicago, IL, USA, a foodie capital in the US and it was better than any Chinese food I’ve had there by a long shot. We went here on a whim because we didn’t have cash and they accepted credit and had a 4.9. We were apprehensive to eat here because it had so few reviews, but gave it a try and so happy we did. I got the cashew chicken with rice. My boyfriend got the spicy Szechuan chicken with rice. We shared the wings 10/10. Shared gyoza, 9/10. Really friendly service and delicious Chinese food. I've had Chinese food many times in Taiwan, and here it was very similar and authentic. Really recommend as an affordable delicious experience and if you crave something else than Japanese food in this area. The highlight are the steamed dumplings. We came here as the other gyoza restaurants were full of had very long lines and just happened to notice this Chinese restaurant that also did gyozas. We were very delighted as they tasted so good.
