Having a good experience in the restaurant. The restaurant is not very big, yet they put very few seats in it, which makes me feel cozy. Also, instead of keep packing ppl in the restaurant, they tend to keep limited customers in order to serve better. The food are great, they all cooked right after my ordering, so it is fresh and hot. I like the noodles as it is similar to the Hong Kong style “fried noodles”, crispy noodles with seafood and vegetables toppings. I believe it will surprise many foreigners if they never try before. I can really feel the empathy delivered by the owners (I think the 2 staffs are the owners?). The first time is they offer me to order a half set of fried chicken, it will be too much for one person to have 6 pcs ...The second time is when they delivered the fried chicken, they have given me 4 pcs. They explained it is an “apology” of making me wait too long time... I was surprised and feel grateful that they treat the customer in such manner. Last but not least, it is quite interesting that they will take a photo for their customers after the meal, and some of them are sticked on the wall. You can see many smiley faces. I would highly recommend this restaurant to u. The food and the service are good.

The Food When you are in Japan, Chinese food is usually not the first choice that comes to mind. But my friends and I found a particular restaurant close by call Chahan Hana. It was highly rated so we decided to give it a try. We ordered a few dishes. - pepper fried rice - mabodoufu - fried egg plant with Chinese chili sauce - fried chicken The pepper fried rice was good, it actually went well with the maboduofu. The fried egg plant with Chinese chili sauce was not bad, a bit too much sauce. The highlight was actually the fried chicken. It was light battered but still have a good crispiness to it. They also gave us complimentary vegetable soup, though the soup was a bit too salty. It was interesting to see that the standard portion size was smaller. But since is Japan I guess it makes sense. All in all, the food was good, though I would not say is as hyped up as some of the other reviews. The Miscellaneous The restaurant is in a typical corner location with some interesting decor. You might not pay too much attention to it or know is highly rated till you look it up. The inside is not super big, but has some compelling decor (photos of all customers visited?) The service and staff were good as you might expect from Japan. Though the wait time for our food was fairly long for a few dishes. Their menu has a good variety of items, but is not so big that is overwhelming. Prices are also not too bad, and with a little extra, you can also get an upsize. It is worth checking out the restaurant if you happen to be in the area.

I was surprised I was the only and probably first customer during dinner time. I arrived at around 7pm and left at 8pm and there were still only us there. I felt it was kinda of over-rated because the food was ok. The pork dumpling was a bit too oily, and the sweet and sour pork a bit too sweet. The fried rice was good, but not out-of-the-world good. And the price is slightly higher than the value of the dishes. The free dessert kinda breakeven that. Service wise, yes, as per what everyone had described, the couples are very sweet and warm. We were a bit overwhelmed when the lady kept passing us the books of drawings from past customers to us. They were some awesome drawings, but it was one too many. I guess it was because we were the only one there and she felt obliged to try to small talk with us and kept us occupied while the food was getting ready. It was a bit awkward when all we wanted was to have some rest and also keeping to ourselves.

Very good food, resonably priced, nice family-like environment, amazing hospitality from the lovable husband wife couple. Had the omelette fried rice lunch set at ¥1200(which comes with 2 big pieces of Japanese styled bone fried chicken) and added rice(¥100), and the portion was sufficient to share for 2. The fried rice is leaning towards Japanese style which is less oily, and goes very well with the omelette and the fried chicken. would definitely recommend to add the fried chicken ala carte, if you can eat more. What sets this place apart is the amazing service from the lovely owners. They were courteous, friendly and kind - makes you feel at home. They go all out to interact with us and the lady owner made several origami for my 2 yr old daughter to cheer her up. Would definitely come back this place if my family ever stops by at Takayama again.

Interesting take on the Chinese fried rice with seafood (Y1,500) that’s very different from the Cantonese (海鲜炒饭) and Ding Tai Fung style, with lotsa egg white. For those who loves eggs with their spinach, you cannot go wrong with the scrambled eggs with spinach (Y1,500). After payment, the staff will take a short moment of your time to take an obligatory photo, and both the lady and male bosses (latter if not cooking) will send you off with a smile! This family restaurant is not for the impatient and/or those rushing for their train rides, as the dishes can take some time to prepare. Your partner’s order or the side dish may arrive well in advance of your own order.

Chanced upon this neighborhood family restaurant after reading some good Google reviews and it turned out to be very good! One of the better meals for this trip! Its mainly Chinese styled food which is famed for its fried rice and fried chicken. The crispiest fried chicken ever and the elderly chef cooked it on the spot so it's very fresh because its not refried. The fried rice is awesome and really tasted like Chinese style with generous amount of eggs used to make to omelette very yellow. Definitely will recommend anyone who comes here to try this! Hidden gem! 5 stars of out 5!
