Traveling together as a couple, we had two suitcases (28" and 24") along with two medium-sized backpacks. Our hotel is conveniently located less than a 3-minute walk to and from Takayama station and about a 15-minute walk to the old town. Our room was spacious, allowing us to fully access our suitcases while still having plenty of walking space. Room cleaning is provided for stays exceeding 2 nights; although we stayed for 3 nights, we opted not to have our room cleaned. Instead, each day, they would leave a bag containing fresh towels, a trash bag liner, rolled slippers, and a floor mat outside our door.
Since our room wasn't cleaned daily, I assume the green tea bags were not restocked. However, all guests could enjoy complimentary hot drinks from the café starting at 10 am, and we could take tea bags back to our room after that time if desired.
In terms of the bathroom, the taps for both the sink and shower use a turning knob for adjusting hot and cold water. It took us a few seconds to find the right temperature sometimes, as it could be either too cold or too...
Read moreLike others have said, the hotel is in a convenient location near the train station and not a long walk from the old town. The front desk staff were very friendly.
However, it's one of those older buildings that can either have air conditioning or heat but not both. It changes to heat in November and does not have air conditioning in the rooms from November to April. We were there in early November and our room was on the sunny side of the building. It really heated up during the day and with the building's heat on, it was hot in the room. The area is quiet and we were able to sleep with the window open at night which made it somewhat bearable but we chose the hotel because it advertised having air conditioning (on Booking and Expedia). They should be clear in their advertising that air conditioning is only available...
Read moreSituated 2 minute walk from the main rail and bus stations, and less than 10 minutes walk from the historic old town area of Takayama this hotel is in a great location. The staff on the front desk could not have been more friendly or helpful. Free hot drinks are available in the ground floor breakfast area most of the afternoon and evening. Our room (by Japanese standards ) was decent size with usual amenities like fridge, teas/coffee and hair dryer. The bathroom was a little dated but nonetheless perfectly functional. Breakfast was mix of Japanese and western foods , all of which were good. Good reliable free Wi-Fi through. It would probably be classified as 3 star hotel. Would...
