This shop deserves their high ratings here. We happend to go in by accident, as we were looking for a casual dinner option and were not too sure about the flashy and boldly advertised options further down the road.
The owners were were charming and supportive to us non Japanese speaking guests. They helped us with every small detail and showed us the English menu. Also nice to know is, that the vending machine is accepting cards. So a great option if you dont carry cash with you.
Most important is the food though. After having a big variety of Ramen in Tokyo the week before, the rather light broth was very welcomed. Not too stuffy/heavy and delicate. Take the onsen egg as an extra though, as it adds a little extra to the bowl.
We even managed to enjoy a hot spring bath despite being full after the dinner. So a great and welcomed alternative to the many Hida beef offerings.
Later on we find out, that our hotel was even promoting their shop on their local guide.
If we wouldnt have had to leave Takayama today, I'd go there a second time tonight...
Read moreSo delicious! The owners are the sweetest people ever, and the hospitality is amazing! The food was also so amazing with the chasu in the ramen being juicy and fatty, and the noodles were cooked perfectly to my personal liking. I also got an extra egg on the side for about ¥160-¥180 , and it's so worth it! It really adds extra flavor to the ramen, and it was cooked perfectly with the yolk being just a bit runny! You can truly taste the love the chefs put into their food!
Overall, I will definitely be coming back the next time I visit Takayama! I recommend this to anyone who's looking for something to eat in the area that's affordable but delicious! Also, when it isn't busy, it's great for big groups of people since the area can be a bit difficult to find places that are able to hold parties of 4 or more people.
So please give...
Read moreAfter trying a few ramen places in Tokyo, this one came out on top. The light, delicious broth, the noodles, and the meat came together magically. We originally wanted to try the famous place in town, but the line was ridiculously long, so we skipped it and went to this place instead.
There was a couple ahead of us, and we waited around 10 minutes on the bend outside at 1 pm.
They had an English menu and offered only one kind of ramen (in small, medium, and large bowls). We had the medium ramen with egg for 1,030 yen and it was just the right amount of food. If we weren't leaving today, we would come back for lunch. It was a gem in Takayama. The owner was kind...
