Very nice little hostel, with very kind personel. The place just opened (June '19). Beds are comfortable (for Japanese standard) and showers are good. The bar is also attracts locals which gives it a nice atmosphere. Juan is Spanish and also speaks very good English and Japanese. The other two guys are Japanese and try there best to help you out, although there English is not that great, but hey, your in Japan right?
The location is perfect. Right next to the station and near a car rental. It is a great place to start your kumado kodo pilgrimage. The ocean is also nice!
Downside while we were there: the dorm is not really dark and as soon as the sun is up, you'll probably wake up. Bring an eye mask.
Tip: ask for a massage. The Japanese owner will call his buddy, who gives a proper Japanese style massage.

Read moreI stayed in a queen room with my husband for one night in March 2023. We arrived quite late and had dinner in the restaurant. The chef/owner was very kind and served delicious Italian food. For pizza, our favorite was the anchovy, and for ice cream, we preferred the pistachio, although everything was amazing. It was possible to pay with PayPay at the restaurant. The queen bed was very comfortable. The room also had a small kettle and complimentary tea and coffee. In the morning it was very easy to go pick up lunch at a nearby konbini and then the bus stop/ tourist centre is right across the road at the station. Django was a great place to stay before beginning the...

The bar is beautifully designed with excellent lighting and menu. I had a pint of the local IPA brewed down the road and was perfect.
Similar to any hostel, other guests can be noisy, and some guests get up quite early to start the Kumano Kodo, so if you’re in the shared dorm you may...
