From far the place looks amazing and nice. But from a closer look when you’re actually inside, the interior/decor looks quite cheap. Two levels but the tables are squeezed quite close to one another. Makes sitting arrangement tight and uncomfortable. For a place with such pricing for food I would expect to be able to sit comfortably without having to “participate” in the conversation next to me. Quality and taste of the food is not amazing. Quantity is quite pathetic as well. We order the chicken schnitzel that comes with a tiny portion of salad, and sausage platter of 3 that comes with some mustard sauce and small portion of sauerkraut. Its 300 yen if you want to have it with fries. The staff are quite poorly organized as well. They don’t seem to know which table ordered what when they are serving the dishes and drinks. Not sure if there’s a second toilet at level 2. But there’s one tiny toilet at the inner corner of level 1 that is just next to the counter seats. Could literally hear the conversation while you’re inside. Wondering if the seat just next to the toilet could hear you doing any business while using it. The Schmatz Nakameguro is a very relaxing place for beer and light meals, offering a large selection of German berer brands and German dishes. At the corner of the Megurokawa or Meguro-river, it is a perfect place for meeting family and friends. The shop has two floors, but I prefer the streel level floor. With large open windows that let you enjoy the canal. I like the dark draught beer (Dunkel by Erdinger) and the smoked sausage with red cabbage and sauerkraut. You can also order appetizers, salads, risotto and pizza, but the craft German sausages are best. The price is very reasonable at around 1,500 yens per person. Came here on a night out with friends I haven't seen in years.

The food and drink, were fine (a bit expensive but it was decent).

The issue lay with the service. A cockroach flew onto my arm and around us - and I understand these things can happen - the staff dealt with it but didn't apologise or anything.

We ordered some beers but none of us were particularly knowledgeable about them; the staff grumbled something at us about what we ordered and refused to elaborate...

I asked where the bathroom was and the staff member very curtly and impolitely told me where to go.
