大衆手羽酒場 TEBAPS 吉祥寺 — Restaurant in Tokyo

Speaking from a tourist’s perspective, TEBAPS has been a dream. Chanced upon this on google map, and full disclosure, they do offer promotions for leaving a review, BUT, this will be an honest review.

FOOD Before anything, get the crispy potato salad, you’re welcome. We also ordered the following: Signature wings. We tried a mix and match of a few flavors, all were great but the soy and curry stood out to us. Perfect beer food. To be fair I’ve yet to come across any izakaya/diner that serves wings like this! Fried rice. Don’t let me convince you that the Japanese do the best rendition of fried rice, try it for yourself. Chazuke chicken wing rice. The broth was peppery, wish it was more towards bonito-flavored. Regardless, still a decent warming bowl of chazuke rice.

SERVICE We speak and understand close to zero Japanese, but the very friendly host(Ryoya San) spoke some English which was great for basic communication. And come on, it’s 2025, chances are most would rely on google translate like us - the fonts on the menu can be easily translated using Google Translate! Staff here are friendly and hardworking, food gets served at a very reasonable pace even when the restaurant is busy and almost at full capacity.

ATMOSPHERE Non pretentious and spacious, a perfect spot if you decide to start drinking, or to end your day after visiting the various drinking spots in this area. Despite selling mainly fried chicken wings, the indoor space is well ventilated and does not have any lingering smells. At the point of my visit, we were the only tourists at this restaurant with the rest of the clientele being locals. It seems they have their fair share of local regulars flowing through the night, and it’s not hard to understand why.

Final conclusion, prices are reasonable (you can make reference to the many menu pictures available on google map) and would definitely recommend this place to fellow travellers who happen to visit this neighbourhood...
