盛興園 — Restaurant in Tokyo

Not sure how to rate this place, because only had one lunch here, but never going again... Had the tantanmen lunch set. Half order fried rice was really tasty with red charsui, which is rare for Japan. Problem was with the main dish, no flavor... Noodles are a bit thick, so need a thicker soup, which is what I thought I would be getting with Tantanmen. Figured it out, no pork in there, so no taste and not enough sesame seed flavor and paste. Asked for salt and some tobanjan, but got met with very disturbed looks and very rude reaction. I tried to be nice about it but was given really bad stares from the cook. Maybe other dishes are good, see a lot of people going in, but my advice would be not to order the Tantanmen, unless that is if you like...

We were a group of 10 non-Japanese speaking people, who arrived out of nowhere. Tables were put together for us, an English menu was provided. Orders were taken with the patience of a saint.
