Overall this hotel stay was just okay, decent but with some negatives that made me knock off some stars.
Starting with the good stuff - room is a good size, having a table and kitchen and washer/dryer is great, bathroom features were pretty good. There are light switches on the bed so you don't have to get up to turn them on or off which is nice. Room is a nice size for a place in Tokyo. Location is pretty good, short walk to Inaricho station and one other I'm forgetting the name of. However if you want to take the Yamanote line it's a little bit of a walk - nothing ridiculous, just a little annoying.
Now for the downsides. First off, the superior king bed is in fact just 2 twin mattresses with a larger bedframe and sheets/blankets. The division in the middle was pretty uncomfortable.
Although the room looked clean on a first look, there was a lot of dust on the vent near the ceiling, the vent in the toilet, and on the humidifier. We also found more dust on the pull out bed after using it for storing some of our shopping. After the first night we ran the humidifier to get the air a little less dry and ever since then (during a week long stay) I've had a terribly stuffy nose whenever we're in the room that makes it hard to breathe. Clears up within 5-10 minutes of leaving the room, too, so I know it's not an illness. I wish some more detail was paid to the cleaning so I didn't have to suffer this way. This is a big problem and makes me not want to come back...
Read moreWe arrived in the afternoon and the reception was quite, no queue. The property manager welcomed us. have to register all passports - which is fine and we found safer this way. we were given clear directions and the property manager speaks English very well. The key enter the building and our room are digital, which is nice and every one can have it (not like a physical key to duplicate). The room are very clean - my wife quote - much nicer than some 5 star hotels we had been used. good equip with everything we need - from kitchen to bathroom, also have a front-load Hitachi washing machine - it works nice and we could wash our cloths everyday in our room - that is unexpected. Walking distance to Ueno Station(上野)which is a major station connects to many places on the Yamanote Line(山手线). A lot of restaurants in walking distance (towards Ueno Station). We visited Shinobazuno Pond(不忍池)and the Tokyo National Museum (TNM), The National Museum of Western Art, Uenokoen Park, the Zoo, The Ueno Royal Museum, National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo University and Tokyo University Medical School/Hospital are all in walking distance. When we walk through the Ueno Park, there was a Japan Basketball Junior live in the central square. nice place and worth to visit for a day or two.
a 7-11 and pharmacy just around the corner....
Read moreWe recently stayed at MONday Apart Shin Ueno ShinOkachimachi for 4 nights in Tokyo and it was an excellent choice for our family. From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming and made us feel right at home. The hotel offers a variety of family-friendly amenities that we loved. Our room was spacious and well-equipped, with a comfortable king-sized bed and bunk bed adn sofa bed for the kids. There was also a small seating area and dining area which made it easy for us to relax while the children enjoyed their TV time. The room was clean, and we appreciated the kid-friendly touches, like a small welcome pack with snacks and coloring books. Also there is a kitchen and washer which is very convenient for families. The location is ideal for families, with convenient stores around the area and close to train sttakons. Close to tourist spots like Akihabara, Asakusa and Ueno. It’s a great spot for a quick family trip. The service was exceptional. Everyone from the front desk to the housekeeping staff was friendly and quick to help with anything we needed.Overall, MONday Apart Shin Ueno ShinOkachimachi was a fantastic place for our family to stay, and we would definitely come back for our next trip!
