Good but won't make it a daily visit It is a kind of restaurants where you get a good amount of food for reasonable price let me list the review in points -Taste It is not the best Chinese food you may taste, but it being halal makes your choices limited, however, I tried other halal Chinese restaurants and still this one is not quite the best, the minced meat had a lot of onions in it and the steamed pastry had a lot of dough which felt like eating a dough with a hint of meat. The skewer was amazing and taste really exceptional, I tried all skewer types ( beef, mutton, chicken, fish) and they all taste amazing, I would really recommend it with your meal. -Quantities Some quantities are bigger than expected, and other quantities are just okay. The beef rice quantity was big and enough if you are normally hungry, the -Prices The prices are acceptable in a way, but some plates are overpriced, it really depends on your order -Location The location is great it is just few minutes walk from ikebukuro North exit *Cons. -The restaurant doesn't have a prayer room for Muslims, and that was strange for a halal restaurant !!!! -The menu is in Chinese and Japanese, it doesn't make sense to have a halal restaurant without at least 1 English speaking staff, also the quantities in the menu is unclear, you will need to ask to understand the quantity served with the price written. -The food took a bit of time to get served -You can clearly smell of smoke coming from people smoking just outside the restaurant. if you come a bit late you will wait in a long queue smelling the smoke for longer time. Overall I would say it is an average restaurant with average taste and a bit...
Read moreRating: ★★★☆☆ Aliya Restaurant in Ikebukuro is clearly a popular spot — it was busy when I visited at 7pm and as a solo female Muslim traveler, I really appreciate having access to halal food in Tokyo.
That said, I’d like to kindly share some feedback. Despite seeing replies saying they accept card payments as well, they told me it was cash only.
Out of about 10 customers I observed, only 2 were able to pay by card — and both spoke Chinese, which may have helped them communicate more effectively.
For the rest of us, especially if you don’t speak the language, you just go with the flow.
As someone who’s trying to be respectful and follow the rules, I just wish the information shared online in the google reviews where restaurant management replies to their customer feedback was honest and consistent.
If you don’t accept card payment means you don’t. There was no language barrier as restaurant management said in other customer’s reviews. Their staff was fluent and able to converse in English.
When you're searching for halal food abroad, you often can't be too picky — but clear and honest communication really helps build trust.
Thanks for the meal, and I hope this feedback is helpful for both the restaurant and...
Read moreMy friends and I visited this restaurant on 1 November evening, and we were genuinely appalled by the customer service. The waiter and waitress were rude and acted as though we were stupid - when we asked about one of the dishes that we ordered but had not arrived, we were treated very rudely. Mind you, we were almost done with our main dishes, and the dish we were asking about is the fried beef pie, which frankly should not have taken 40 minutes to be served.
The waitress that served us also did not explain things properly and when we asked her to repeat herself, she rolled her eyes and shouted at us in Mandarin - not even in Japanese, which we would have understood seeing that we are in Japan lol. Truly terrible experience here; if we had known that the service was this terrible, we would have risked eating at a non-Halal establishment.
Honestly, it didn’t feel like a Muslim-friendly establishment, what with all the Chinese men sitting around drinking their beers and getting louder the drunker they got. I’d strongly advise fellow Muslims to...
