The food is good - especially the sashimi - and really like the seasonality of the menu. But the service is amongst the worst I have ever experienced in Japan. Extremely understaffed for the amount of customers they are handling; food takes forever to arrive, to the point where 2 hours into our "meal" we still hadn't received half our order; the main staff in charge and her coworker seem completely stressed out; noticeable difference in service towards "regulars" vs. visitors (which is fine but when its so noticeable it leaves a bad taste in the mouth). It really pains me to give a place a bad review, and most times I don't even bother. But I do this only because it's the kind of experience that could really leave ruin a night, if not your entire trip to Japan (if you're coming from abroad), especially if you go in with high expectations, or plan on this being a "special" meal. I really hope I just went there on a bad day, and I sincerely appreciate anyone that runs a restaurant given all the work it involves. But this is my personal experience and I felt the need to share. (ps. I speak fluent Japanese so it's not like that...
Read moreThe worst customer service I have ever experienced - I am still in shock. No service (no wine/water or taking our order) for over half an hour of arriving on time for our booking. Too long time gaps between dishes - and with one hour of our booking to go - no more food or service - we left hungry. Unfriendly treatment from the staff when asked to have a further choice of wine (you should just take what they present - choose between red, white or sparkling - although they have more options) - the opposite of omotenashi. It makes you appreciate all the other wonderful places in Japan. Very sad to see as the place has so much potential - gorgeous building and a variety of veggie based dishes and sashimi - but you feel sad walking out of there. I hope it was just a bad day for the team there and a one off. Dining out is a wonderful experience that brings joy and gets people together - it is a gift to create this.
You could try it if you are more patient, have over 4 hours and don’t mind waiting long time between drinks and dishes. You might have a different experience - but try to check with others that have been...
