The Kyoto, Hong Kong, and Shanghai locations that I have tried of this chain have been nothing short of wonderful. The same can’t be said of the Tokyo location, particularly of the one located in the basement of Azabudai Hills. The main reason is there is no enforcement of process and quality control. Having watched the baristas, both managers and staff, the fatal error seems to be in how they are pressing the coffee into the bowl. They are not packing it densely so that it will bring out the most in the beans - rather they just flatten the grounds with no force, which will allow a great deal of space and gaps for water to pass through. The result has been a series of weak or watery cups of coffee. I have gone there six times in the past month and the only good cup I have had was when the trainers from Hong Kong were there overseeing the quality control. Also, the cashiers struggle to make the purchase experience a smooth one and it’s much slower than it ought to be for such a limited menu. I might also suggest that that merchandise purchases be handled by the same register as the one which processes purchases for beans as it is less busy, whereas the line for coffee is always busy. Problem is that if someone can’t decide between a tumbler or a grinder the whole line for drinks grinds to a halt. Hope they work it out but I wouldn’t bother with this place...

The first time i came here there was a weekend and they a long line. When i went, we had to wait an hour or so. They were suggesting to check out the fourth floor store but that too is not so different. The b1 floor only have few seats enough to seat 5-6 people. So prepare yourself to drink your coffee else where. I dont know the situation on a weekday, so maybe its less busier.

I visited Tokyo again and visited the store of Azabudai Hills. But all the employees seemed to be angry that day. As expected, the staff were unfriendly. Especially the yellow-haired female employee... Oh my god!! I didn't feel good, but it's not a very important part. but You need to do your job properly! I asked for roasting level 5, but the beans I received 30 minutes later were level 4. If you love Arabica coffee or want to have fun memories in Japan, I recommend you to visit other Arabica...
